I just realised the queens of upsets Olivia Colman, Marion Cotillard and Frances McDormand are going to be competing in the same field next year…

FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")

Cate Blanchett – Nightmare Alley Charlotte Rampling – Bernadetta Tilda Swinton – Three Thousand Years of Longing Ann Dowd – Mass Frances McDormand – The Tragedy of Macbeth Isabelle Huppert – Joan Vera

Rampling  was robbed back in Oscars 2016, but I believe she has a supporting female performance to Virginie Efira in Benedetta. Her role anyway looks like a juicy one, but I’m afraid the sexual theme will not play well with the Academy (just see Mulligan this year).

They will block each other lol

I want someone new to win. Two years in a row and I’m still waiting.
That said I need Madame Cotillard to have as many nominations as possible

I wonder if Cotillard could return to the Oscars if the Academy doesn’t find Annette too weird.

I think Cotillard is great, but I’d love to see the Academy rewarding someone due; whether they are due for a first nomination, like Kirsten Dunst OR due for a first win, like Toni Collette.

Spread the wealth, Academy. Although I liked the last 2 lauded actresses, I was particularly heartbroken this year for Mulligan (even if McDormand is my favorite actress). It was bizarre to see her table in almost complete dark when her name was announced. I assume Carey won’t want to work with Soderbergh 🙂

Imagine if these were the 5 nominated ladies next year:

Kirsten Dunst – The Power of the Dog
    Kristen Stewart – Spencer
    Virginie Efira – Bernadetta
    Ann Dowd – Mass
    Tessa Thompson – Passing

    All newbies!!

Imagine if these Oscar winners were the 5 nominated:

Cate Blanchett (2 Oscars) – Nightmare Alley
Frances McDormand (3 Oscars) – The Tragedy of Macbeth
Marion Cotillard (1 Oscar) – Annette
Tilda Swinton (1 Oscar) – Three Thousand Years of Longing
Jennifer Hudson (1 Oscar) – Respect

Who would you have voted for?
