Find me another actress who can play a Swedish gothic punk in TGWTDT and then an Audrey Hepburn type of character of the 50s in Carol.
The best.

Big shout out to Kirsten Dunst and Lupita Nyong’o as well.
All of them have shown incredible versatility and are definitely at the top of their game imo. But all the girls on the list are very talented.January 21, 2021 at 10:25 am #1203994652Voted for Williams. I didn’t really buy her as Marilyn Monroe, but I’ve loved/respected a bunch of her performances for a while now. What made her my choice was seeing her on Broadway in Blackbird and then watching that tv limited series, Fosse/Verdon where she blew my mind.
Portman in Black Swan is still one of my fave BA wins ever, but I find that she seriously needs the RIGHT role to be good because otherwise, she’s not very good.
Rooney Mara obviously has talent, but no performance of hers truly wowed me. Some have stayed with me a bit, but nothing ground-shaking.
Kirsten Dunst is an actress who has surprised me the most with her growth as an actress and in her ability.
