Yes! Part 5!! Well it’s still too early to call it but I’m firm at predicting Renée to take it all.

Let’s be real. Johansson is the only possibility that has it all. Her performance has been praised, her movie has buzz and acclaim, she’s an ingenue, her main competition is an already (undeserved) Oscar-winner for a movie that nobody in the real world is going to watch and Best Actress is a extremely weak field this year. Sad but a fact.

Except for the performance I’d say.

But she will struggle with the critics awards and will lose any momentum

there are still many negatives against and narratives to support Scarlett’s win, so it’s not a done deal as yet.

But, at this point it’s hard to picture her winning when majority of critical praise have been singling out Driver and Dern.

Is Johansson riding the wave of her film’s reviews or does she actually have the performance to back it up?

Johansson is not an ingenue. That could’ve been something to describe her in 2003 but not now.

    For Your Consideration:

Best International Feature: Instinct (The Netherlands)
Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)

I dont think Johansson has a chance. Most of the praise for the film has gone to Driver and Dern. And shes really not that great in it. Its a bore of a performance.

She’s good in the film, but unlike Driver and Dern, she never fully lives in her character. It just feels like she’s acting to the camera

Little angels, Scarlett’s performance is good enough to secure her a nod and with all the buzz the film’s going to have she increases her chances as Best Actress and maybe Best Supporting Actress are the only categories that the film could get recognized (Driver is totally losing to Phoenix).

Let’s be real. Laura Dern is going to have only one scene. She could win the Oscar, but I bet all my money she won’t be the best performance.

Johansson is so lifeless and dull onscreen, so she’ll probably win.

Let’s be real. She’s far from being lifeless. She’s a great actress and gives a great performance.
