Why is it that when the Latina actresses from Roma get surprise nominations its “undeserved,” “a waste,” she becomes personally attacked, and a new Poster begins impersonating her. But when an obscure European actress from an indie foreign language/silent film gets surprise nominations shes “the new frontrunner” and “should be sweeping.”

I do wonder how close the golden globe was between Glenn Close and lady gaga what if lady gaga got two more votes and won? How different the race would be

you can say that about any winner of any awards show. Its redundant.

That has been going on for years here.

but there are lots of whites in Egypt. They don’t even consider themselves black. Even Charlize Theron is South African but she isn’t black. I don’t know about Malek though but he looks mixed and not obviously black

Theron’s parents are French and German whereas Rami is Coptic Egyptian. And POC doesn’t refer only to black people.

If Glenn Close wins tonight, and I think she will, I hope sane people will realize that she is winning the Oscar. If she doesn’t win then it’s a different story and we have a contest.

I am hoping for an Olivia colman win based on merit. I am fine though with a Glenn Close win at SAG tonight.

Gaga is a media darling. She’s struggling to sell since 2013 but the media keeps trying to revive her. She’s also trying to be relevant to the Oscars since 2015. That’s why her performance is so overrated. If it was someone else, it wouldn’t be considered for anything beyond a globe nomination even if it was 3 times better.

Gaga created a strong bond with her fans from the start of her career. It are her fans that always kept her a superstar by treating her as one. The medias opinion on Gaga started shifting in 2011 with the whole Madonna debacle and being too gay and too weird. During 2013 almost every article about her had a negative undertone somewhere in it. Even during Cheek to Cheek, reviewers were still writing things like that she was the desperate hasbeen out of the two. It wasn’t until the Sound Of Music performance at the Oscars that the press collectively decided they loved her again.

She had to work hard for any good press she got, it wasn’t just handed to her. And be sure if her next role is mediocre or bad, the media will rip her apart. Cause what creates even more buzz and clicks than a positive article, is a hateful one. Especially with someone who has a devoted fanbase eager to defend her.

I simply believe that if Glenn Close wins SAG she will win the Oscar. That is my opinion about it. I would be more than happy to be proven wrong and for Olivia Colman to win instead. I strongly suspect that I am not the only one to have this opinion.

If Close wins SAG she will go on to win BAFTA as well. Haven’t we learned anything from these past years?
