good to know you’re still here. Thread has gotten really weak. Hope to see you on the 2020 best actress thread when it kicks off fully.

Thanks you. Exactly. Don’t worry I will be. And hopefully next year this thread and the race will be much better.

Close campaigned harder than Gaga. Colman did absolutely nothing after the Globes. If she wins, the best performance wins. If Close wins, the best campaign wins.

“Best” is subjective. And the whole idea that the votes from the British bloc are going to lead to a Colman victory is just plain silly! If the British bloc is so instrumental then why didn’t Emily Blunt get a nomination for Mary Poppins Returns? After all, she’s a British actress playing a famous British character. Instead, Yalitza Aparicio got nominated.

Emily split votes against herself lol some voted her in supporting and some in lead.

This entire forum is subjective. BAFTA didn’t even nominate Blunt so I really don’t understand why she’s even being brought into this anymore, thus the comparison was weak to begin with.

Close winning BA would be a huge mistake, Colman or Gaga should take it.

Sorry but Gaga should be grateful for the acting nomination. Close, Colman, AND McCarthy acted circles around her.

Three consecutive televised precursors for Close. And her very first starting a domino effect that secured her a crucial win at SAG which usually favors veteran performers but they do rubber stamp younger front runners. The rumblings for team anyone but Close and the Mexican cleaning lady have me on edge in this place.

The Mexican cleaning lady is called Yalitza Aparicio and you should be familiar with that already.

Imo Yalitza is the biggest campaigner this year. Sis didn’t give up after all the snubs.

can’t believe this Jan said that lol. Gaga campaigned harder than any other actress this year. She was the one who wanted to be a part of the circle so much. Her campaign did not just paid off… don’t be bitter Jan.

And I’m tired of talking about Lady Gaga, i really don’t hate her, just her stans that were unbearable. Now that they have accepted her fate, it’s cooler and i don’t want to say bad things about her anymore.

I am a Gaga fan and I would be very happy if she took the Best Original Song Oscar. She is new to the industry and would not deserve to win acting Oscar over veteran actresses.

But at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if she lost the Original Song Oscar too. She didn’t really win big even when she is the frontrunner to win. The Grammys, the Hunting Ground Oscar, etc.
