Finally got around to 85’s “Room with a View” and how in the hell did Helena Bonham Carter not gather traction anywhere for this?

And Smith won BAFTA in lead!

Emmys FYC | Alan Tudyk in “Resident Alien” | Billie Piper in “I Hate Suzie” | Ego Nwodim in “Saturday Night Live” | Kaley Cuoco in “Harley Quinn” | “Dickinson” | “P-Valley” | “Pose” | “Superstore”

I have Charlotte Rampling’s performance in 45 Years as #1 in my personal ‘Greatest Oscar Nominated Performances list’. Her performance is mesmerizing. Incredibly subtle and heartbreaking masterclass. Especially during the harrowing ending. She’s better than any of the nominees that year. should’ve been won over Brie Larson.

How would you rank the 2008 nominees? I’ve seen all except for Angelina’s performance. I used to like Kate’s performance back in the day, but now I think it’s rather awful…and she’s actually supporting. Not to mention that the fake elderly makeup looked really bad on her. My ranking: 1. Anne Hathaway 2. Melissa Leo 3. Meryl Streep 4. Kate Winslet n/s Angelina

    1. Melissa Leo, Frozen River

    2. Angelina Jolie, Changeling

    3. Anne Hathaway, Rachel Getting Married

    4. Meryl Streep, Doubt

    5. Kate Winslet, The Reader

    3. Kristin Scott-Thomas, I Loved You So Long
    4. Kate Winslet, Revolutionary Road

What an underrated performance…! So subtle at the first half of the movie. And then her performance exploded during the argument scene. She should be nominated over Meryl or Winslet.

I need to understand how Madonna won the Golden Globe for Evita over Frances McDormand in Fargo but Madonna missed the Oscars and McDormand won the Oscar.

She was in the running but she was such a newcomer. Fonda scored a surprise nomination (for a really good performance in an average movie) and the other 4 were pretty heavily favored to get in. There just wasn’t room (with or without a view) for Bonham Carter.)

I watched 3 Best Actress winners today; Renee Zellweger, Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron, all were fantastic

Theron was phenomenal, one of the best performances I’ve ever seen.

Zellweger was incredible, I don’t understand the hate towards her win. I felt like she captured Judy really well.

Kidman was great, I would have never guessed it was her. Really great accent work as well

    EMMY FYC

The Crown in all categories (inc. Olivia Colman & Gillian Anderson)

I May Destroy You, It’s a Sin, Stateless & The Queens Gambit

Kate Winslet, Keeley Hawes, Shaun Parkes, Marielle Heller, Michaela Coel

Ted Lasso & The Flight Attendant in all categories.

Such a shame Chloe Webb never really got any traction outside the critics circle for her electrifying performance in Sid and Nancy. Should’ve won imo. Same with Gary Oldman. Both deserved the gold.

Zellweger was incredible, I don’t understand the hate towards her win.

It’s mostly cause she was a sweeper, already had a statue, general censuses was her performance being better than the film and good ole fashion people stanning for their favs instead.

    I loved her performance too.

Lupita Nyong’O was the Best Actress last year for Us but Globes and Oscars are NOT embracing horror films. Same with Toni Collette for Hereditary.

It’s just cuz most people think ScarJo and Ronan were better (they were helped by being in better movies, that I agree)

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!
