I know many see Sigourney Weaver as the sci-action queen but I feel like Linda Hamilton did it better.

This past year alone for Best Actress was a disgrace. I think the nominees should’ve been:

    Awkwafina, THE FAREWELL
Adele Haenel, PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE
    Lupita Nyong’o, US
    Florence Pugh, MIDSOMMAR
    Alfre Woodard, CLEMENCY

I am honestly really torn over who I’d vote for. Nyong’o really delivered while Haenel was more subtle and then left us with that ending which was some of the best acting I have ever seen in a film.

Of the actual nominees, I would just toss a vote to Saorise Ronan.

In terms of performances I think were egregiously snubbed over the years for recognition, the first ones that come to mind are (and I know some of these weren’t feasible due to the exposure/buzz/politics) :

    Amy Adams, ARRIVAL
    Kathy Bates, DELORES CLAIBORNE
    Toni Collette, HEREDITARY
    Marion Cotillard, RUST & BONE
    Laura Dern, INLAND EMPIRE
    Isabelle Huppert, THE PIANO TEACHER
    Nicole Kidman, TO DIE FOR
Tilda Swinton, WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN (and frankly, THE DEEP END and ORLANDO)
    Naomi Watts, MULHOLLAND DRIVE

“The art of making art is putting it together...”

Marion Cotillard – La Vie En Rose

    My all time winners

Jessica Lange’s best actress win has my favorite backstory ever. The movie was filmed in 1990, the director later died of AIDS, the studio went bust and the movie was shelved for a few years…until it was finally released in 1994, and Lange wound up winning an Oscar for it.

I wish Bullock and Blanchett could have tied. I do think Blanchet was better but Bullock was my favorite female performance that year.
