I finally got around to watching An Education last night, having no idea what I was getting into. What a fantastic film. Pike cracked me up. Mulligan seems to be an actor–as are many in this film–who is simply incapable of a wrong note. Everything she does is gold and she deserves far more recognition for her talent. Let’s hope we see the day!

Fingers crossed she pulls through for Promising Young Woman!

FYC OSCARS : PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN IN ALL CATEGORIES (ESP. ACTRESS – Carey Mulligan AND ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY — EMERALD FENNELL), VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", ESSIE DAVIS FOR "BABYTEETH"

I understand why many enjoyed Gena Rowland’s performance in A woman Under the Influence, as I did, I do feel that Ellen Burstyn was a deserving winner. As a matter of fact, she was WIN worthy for The Exorcists, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Resurrection, and Requiem of a Dream. IMO!!!

Ellen Burstyn Oscar was a makeup win, Diahann Carroll should have won for Claudine that year. Her performance in Resurrection was not Oscar worthy.

I love Diahann Carroll, but she was last for me that year.

She was, but the way it could be a three-way tie, Gena-Ellen-Faye. What an incredible year for actresses! I just hate the fact that Gena Rowlands don’t have any competitive Oscars. Her influence to the industry (especially to the independent cinema) itself was so big that many actors working nowadays influenced by her, especially by that performance. It can be said that hers aging better than other nominees’ work that year.

Yes, my favorite of hers is Opening Night… incredible. Biggest snub of all time
