Here is a list of every film that was submitted for a nomination for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars, since its introduction in 2001.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_submissions_to_the_Academy_Award_for_Best_Animated_Feature

Which films do you think were most snubbed for a nomination?

In my opinion, the best films that didn’t get nominated are Mary and Max (2009), The LEGO Movie (2014), The Simpsons Movie (2007), Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009), and The Peanuts Movie (2015)

Some other noteworthy snubs, either because of critical acclaim, cultural impact, success at precursors, studio history/reputation, nominated in other Oscar categories, or ones I just really liked: Waking Life (2001), The Polar Express (2004, mostly because Shark Tale got in over it), Madagascar (2005), Flushed Away (2006, because it’s Aardman), Horton Hears a Who (2008), Waltz with Bashir (2008), Ponyo (2009), Despicable Me (2010), Megamind (2010), Tangled (2010), The Adventures of Tintin (2011, winner of many precursors), Rio (2011), Winnie the Pooh (2011), Monsters University (2013), The Good Dinosaur (2015), Finding Dory (2016), Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016), The Secret Life of Pets (2016).

Your Name, absolutely. That movie is astonishingly beautiful and emotionally evocative. It might be my movie of the decade.

Also, A Silent Voice getting snubbed sucks.

Wasn’t Waltz with Bashir not allowed to compete for Animated since it’s was already in Foreign Language?

Kimi no na wa/Your name. An astounding piece of cinema. Should’ve won best animation and would’ve been nominated for best picture if voters had actually watched it. My personal #1 of 2016.

… bar the lego movie, those all got nominations for Best Animated Feature

also, do try and watch some animated movies not made by big western studios, there’s a lot more out there

I try not to pay too much attention to this category anymore — the narrative is always so predictable, and it’s just crime after crime as the seasons roll by. Not only should this category not need to exist, but then the nominees are usually crap and the winner is always terrible.

It doesn’t help that there are only ever two or three at least solid animated films each year anyway.
