    Top 3

    1) Jacob Tremblay, Room

    2) Jamie Bell, Billy Elliot

    3) Freddie Highmore, Finding Neverland

Dev Patel, even though he wasn’t a child.

Boyhood wouldn’t have been Boyhood if it weren’t for Coltrane and I have a high sympathy for the character but his performance only would make sense if we learnt that he was a robot.

^ Yep. Overly charismatic child and teen actors have caused the movie-going world to collectively forget what most youngsters are actually like. Coltrane is completely authentic.

So weird that Adèle Exarchopoulos won in this category for a three-hour sex epic.

Tremblay, in a cake walk. Though Bell and Culkin were quite wonderful too.

Hmm, so right now I believe the only male under 30 with an Oscar nom is Haley Joel Osment (28). Though the following under-30s got a Sag nom:
    Jacob Tremblay, 9
    Freddie Highmore, 24
    Dev Patel, 26
    Armie Hammer, 29.

Many think Hammer will get an Oscar nom as a 30-year-old for Birth of a Nation, though that’s older than Haley at any rate.
So I guess Osment will remain the currently-youngest male with a nom unless Ang Lee repeats his Brokeback magic on young lead Joe Alwyn?

Only male winners? My favorite is Jamie Bell, but if best, I gotta go with Jacob Tremblay.

From the nominees, the one is Tom Holland. Plenty of great options though, a lot of them would have been excellent Oscar nominees.

He didn’t win, but Jaden Smith in Pursuit of Happyness was eight.

May the best of your todays be the worst of your tomorrows.
