    My Predictions are
    “13th” – Ava DuVernay
    “Gleason” – Clay Tweel
“The Eagle Huntress” – Otto Bell
“I Am Not Your Negro” – Raoul Peck
“Before the Flood” – Leonardo DiCaprio & Fisher Stevens

    What about yours?

Expect something unexpected about the environment or animals to show up. They love that. THREE Documentaries focused on race is too much.

Yeah The Eagle Huntress is mega sleeper here. Or the Dicaprio global warming doc.

    My predicted 5 nominees:

    Cameraperson

    Fire at Sea

    The Eagle Huntress

    I Am Not Your Negro

    13th

(I think O.J. being an ESPN special will lead to it’s snub, with branch members skeptical about whether it is even a true “film.”)

For your Goldderby Film Awards consideration: Isle of Dogs for every category, especially Music Score for Alexandre Desplat!

    Predictions:
    13th
    O.J.: Made in America
    I Am Not Your Negro
    Gleason
    The Ivory Game

I would have had Cameraperson as the fifth nominee, but Leo will give The Ivory Game a sizable boost.

It’s no more an “ESPN special” then 13th is a movie made for Netflix or past winners and nominees have been made for HBO, Netflix, PBS etc. But I do agree with you that voters’ ignorance is an issue in the nominations’ phase. Once it gets nominated though (and I think it deservedly will), it’s the frontrunner.

I COMPLETELY agree that if it gets nominated, O.J. is a lock to win. It is one of my 5 locks less than a week ago, along with Zootopia, Toni Erdmann, Affleck, and Jenkins (in Directing). BUT I should have included an asterisk with O.J. that it is only the frontrunner if it makes it past the nominations phase.

These are not locks at all.

My score table based on nominations and awards suggests that nominees would be, so far:
    1. O.J. Made in America (18 points: 4 wins, 1 runner-up prize, 4 noms)
    2. 13th (10 points; 2 wins, 4 noms)
    3. “I Am Not Your Negro” & “Weiner” (7 points; 1 win, 4 noms)
    4. Cameraperson (4 points) and Gleason (4 points)

However, what you say is true, I’m not 100% sure that the Academy will nominate an ESPN documentary. Still, I believe that if it gets nominated, it’ll certainly win.

    These are my predicted nominees:
    1. 13TH
    2. O.J.: MADE IN AMERICA
    3. I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO
    4. WEINER
    5. GLEASON

Anyway, they should look at CAMERAPERSON, FIRE AT SEA and LIFE, ANIMATED.

I’m sure I will be proved wrong on this, but I just don’t see the doc branch completely embracing the OJ doc, much less the Academy at large.
