I disagree. Zeta-Jones (although very deserving of her Oscar) is very clearly the co-lead of Chicago. The whole musical is about Roxie and Velma (I mean the Nowadays number literally recognises that) and unlike Stone and Weisz, Zeta-Jones actually competed in Lead at a major awards ceremony.

August 26, 2020 at 3:14 pm #1203669056Strictly based on performances, I probably would’ve voted for Stone/Weisz even though I think Stone was the true lead of THE FAVOURITE. I think Weisz was BARELY supporting.
I did vote for Pacino/Pesci but I strongly considered Harrelson/Rockwell.
I also want to give a shoutout to Burstyn/Leachman for THE LAST PICTURE SHOW.

August 26, 2020 at 4:03 pm #1203669107Stone should have been Lead for The Favourite but given that she was campaigned and nominated in Supporting I think it’s fair to include her and Weisz in this poll.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 26, 2020 at 5:40 pm #1203669240Easily Al Pacino and Joe Pesci in The Irishman.

I’m curious if it’s a hot take for me to say I preferred Burstyn?

ReplyCopy URLAugust 26, 2020 at 8:03 pm #1203669438Sorry girls, i was zoning out when i was sifting through the 2018 oscars.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 26, 2020 at 8:37 pm #1203669465Al Pacino and Joe Pesci gave acting masterclasses, Pesci should’ve won the oscar.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 26, 2020 at 8:53 pm #1203669479The Help may not have aged well, but Spencer and Chastain remain immortal.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 26, 2020 at 8:55 pm #1203669483My vote is for two The Favourite actresses.
The Irishman and Almost Famous pair runner ups!
ReplyCopy URLAugust 26, 2020 at 9:34 pm #1203669514Yeahhh, Stone/Weisz. “The Favourite” is the best film of this lot, and even though I think Stone was the only lead, I’ll defer to how the Academy nominated them.
Voted for #2 choice and the only pair I see listed as both being win-worthy, which is Adams/Leo.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 27, 2020 at 6:03 am #1203669804Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz. Point blank and the .

I wish Stone hadn’t won for La La Land… She would have then probably been campaigned and nominated as a lead for The Favourite. She may have even won and what a glorious win it would have been 😭
ReplyCopy URLAugust 27, 2020 at 11:35 am #1203670544The Irishman definitely. Of the nominees, Pesci should have won….
