But I went with The English Patient.

The Matrix, Fight Club, Eyes Wide Shut, Magnolia, Being John Malkovich, Three Kings, The Sixth Sense, The Blair Witch Project, The Talented Mr Ripley, The Iron Giant, Election, etc..
And which movie the Academy decides to reward as Best Picture??? American Beauty, looool.

Schindler’s List is a great runner-up.

That is absolutely an overrated comment on Unforgiven. You just dismissed “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest”, “Godfather”, “Annie Hall”, “The Sting”, “Schindler’s List”, “Forrest Gump”, “Amadeus”, “Braveheart”, “American Beauty”, etc.
Imo, 1970s and 90s are the most brilliant decades for movie industry.

1999: The Sixth Sense (boy was this a weird crop of nominees for such a great movie year)March 16, 2021 at 11:30 am #1204138699Schindler’s List. It actually gutted me to my core, and I grew up in a community of Holocaust survivors. I actually went to school with some of the grandkids of the Schindler Jews who appeared in the movie. Spielberg is a proper mensch for this and his Holocaust testimonial project. Can’t vote here as it has an apostrophe apparently.
