– Amour
– Amour Fou
– Cold War
– Drive My Car
– The Handmaiden
– Parasite
– Quo Vadis, Aida
– A Separation
– Toni Erdmann
– Two Days, One NightReplyCopy URLSolidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!
February 26, 2022 at 2:59 pm #1204818823Mine are Drive My Car, Incendies (Still the best Villeneuve movie), A Separation, Another Round, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Parasite, A Man Called Ove (I’m sorry) and The Worst Person in the World, but there are some brazillian films as well I would like to shamelessly promote.
Neighbouring Sounds, dir. by Kleber Mendonça Filho (Bacurau). Part Lynch, part Haneke. I think it hits way harder with brazillians though, considering it has a historical national subtext.
A Wolf at the Door, dir. by Fernando Coimbra. Coimbra got nominated for the DGA First Time Feature award. I believe this had a pretty good chance of getting to the Oscars if it wasn’t for… Brazil picking the wrong movie, as always. Kinda like Fatal Attraction, but far darker, with a tour de force performance by Leandra Leal
The Second Mother, dir. by Anna Muylaert. The leading actress is a legendary TV host who got everybody by surprise with this heartbreaking movie about class differencies
