Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson in Schindler’s List

The top dogs here are for me Notes on a Scandal and The Silence of The Lambs. They both have something in common: the dark gay element

    Love it!

    Best Director: Decision to Leave
    Best Actress: Cate Blanchett

Echoing Cassel and Carlin in Faces. Lovely work.

Don’t have the time to fact-check, lol, but Andrews and Preston were great double nominees, if I am not mistaken. A personal fave of mine by the former.

In recent memory, the Gosford Park gals and Closer pair are good picks. Colman/Buckley would have been a decent choice had the latter committed to the role. Colman was probably at her finest since Tyrannosaur; meanwhile, Buckley looked like she was reading the scene directions from a teleprompter.

Notes on a Scandal, Grapes of Wrath. A Place in the Sun, The Silence of the Lambs (though it should have been three), Sense and Sensibility and Unforgiven (this also should have been three)

    Great picks.

Wrt The Lost Daughter, I feel exactly the opposite. I think Colman was just okay I guess while Buckley was the finest I’d ever seen her.

That’s interesting, though tbf, I haven’t seen Buckley in much besides Wild Rose. Colman, imo, is one of the few Oscar-magnet actors nowadays who can truly surprise.

Though I have to say, her The Favourite work aged badly for some reason (the film as a whole as well). I can’t believe out of all the Best Actress winners last decade, it is Zellweger in the shittiest biopic whose performance actually held up well, lol!

I forgot Sean Penn and Samantha Morton in Sweet and Lowdown lol. Penn’s finest moment for me.
