Within the context of Dreamgirls, “Listen” fits best. It gave Deena an empowering arc that was both impactful & memorable.

However, “Love You I Do” is a bop. Sonically it’s very Aretha Franklin-ish. But again, it added depth to Effie’s character. It perfectly set up her inevitable downfall with Curtis.

“Patience”…it’s a good song. But kinda forgettable and clearly not as effective.
