Of the Oscar nominees, “Saving Private Ryan.” Beyond the Oscar nominees, “Pleasantville.”

The Thin Red Line > Saving Private Ryan > The Truman Show > Elizabeth > Shakespeare in Love

Top 3 are great. Other two aren’t terrible.

Shakespeare in Love deserved its win. Spielberg deserved his directing award for that opening 20 min

The Thin Red Line, easily. Shakespeare in Love is a joke of a winner.

Saving Private Ryan is the most realistic war film I’ve ever seen. The opening battle scene and I guess the last half hour of the film was so real. SPR for me

I voted for the prophetic, clever, era-defining yet timeless classic that is The Truman Show.
