Funny thing is that most Birdman fans I know would be happier with Keaton winning and the movie losing than the opposite

I don’t mind Birdman winning over Keaton at SAG in particular because he still wins an award as an ensemble member. At other awards shows, where the acknowledgement for BP goes to producers, etc. instead of the actors, I could understand that sentiment. I think Keaton and Birdman should both be victors: Keaton’s performance is surrounded by an incredible film!

I’m talking about Oscars. If he loses to Redmayne and the movie wins, his fans will still be extremely pissed

Redmayre is passed in front of Keaton on the Bookmakers. Boyhood is still 1st but Birdman is now 2nd for BP (before PGA it was GBH). I think it’s the two big category where everything is possible.

Many people highlight it as an unsurmountable obstacle for Birdman to win Best Picture, the lack of Editing nomination, by reason that no movie having no Editing nomination have won Best Picture race since 1980. But waht about those things that happened before 1980? You know, 2014, by sheer coicidence, just also appeared to be the first year since 1980 where neither Ferrari, no McLaren conceive a single victory during Formula 1 championship. It’s just my guess: it’s not realy that rare when strange things in different spheres reappear simultaneously

Inarritu’s GD odds for DGA are 20/1… Not implying he’s a lock (as the ‘odds’ would suggest for Linklater), but do people forget he’s been nominated twice before and Linklater hasn’t?

DGA voting deadline is Feb 6. I wonder if the PGA results would favour or hinder Inarritu..

    OK

    American Sniper: Classic War
    Birdman: masterpiece achievement
    Boyhood: Boring shit
    Grand Budapest Hotel: aesthetically funny
    Selma: Just OK
    The Imitation Game: Fine work
The Theory of Everything: Beautiful / Class
    Whiplash: Mommy Dearest

The Oscar needs to get rid of the preferential ballot so it can name a deserving movie as Best Picture again.
