Now that I have fianlly seen The Post i wouldn’t mind one bit if it were to win both BP and Best Actress. This is one of Meryl Streep’s very best performances ever and the movie is astonishing and absolutely Oscar-worthy! (:

I got confused by the wording.

“It is a known statistic around here that a Best Picture nominee hasn’t contained a Best Actress nominated OR winning performance since Million Dollar Baby in 2004, with Hilary Swank claiming her second Best Actress Oscar.”

Oh yes, that’s my bad. I meant Best Picture winner, I just edited it 🙂

    1) Best Picture win/ Best Actress win – maybe. depends on if Ronan can win globe.

    2) Best Picture win/ Best Actress nomination – Defitnely. Lady Bird will win but McDormand and Robbie could upset. And Ronan is locked for a nod.

Well I don’t know what people who think Get Out is winning BP are smoking, eating or drinking, so obviously I’m not on that train. And Dunkirk isn’t winning either.

So for me, yes, we’ll finally get this stat once again this year as I fully expect McDormand and Hawkins to be nominated (but not necessarily win) with the two BP winning options. Then, just in case, you have Lady Bird, which I also don’t believe will win, with a BA nomination.

Thankfully this curse is very likely to be broken this year, kinda sad to see BP winners are  generally “lead actress-less”…

The only picture/actress combo I need in my life is The Shape of Water/Sally Hawkins. Please, no Frances.

I think the most likely scenario is Three Billboards/McDormand as of this point. McDormand seems pretty solid, although Ronan or Hawkins could surprise.

The thing I find so cool about this season is that in seeing all the Best Picture contenders, I’ve seen all the Best Actress contenders. Usually, it’s you have to search out the Best Actress potential nominees, but this year they are all in major films. I have to actually search out the Best Actor contenders a little more.

That being said, I’m still not sold on “Three Billboards” winning Best Picture. I still think “Get Out” has a major chance. I’d be on board with “The Shape Of Water” winning over “Three Billboards”. I just don’t get the hype. I’m ok with Frances and Sam winning, but Best Picture? No.
