Gone With The Wind- NO ONE wants to openly admit this, it feels like most of the people let this slide, but Scarlett O’Hara is a weak female protagonist, all she cares about is getting Rhett (though not at first) and Leslie Howard’s character whose name I can’t even remember and don’t care to look up. She is whiny and terrible and sexist in spite of her 1 badass line, “With god as my witness, I will never go hungry again.” Oh yeah, and the sanitized depiction of slavery was gross to the point it will always feel ironic and even kind of depressing that THIS will forever be known as the first movie to win an Oscar for a black performer.
