Hurt Locker and 12 years a slave , no way. Most people were hoping for a Gravity victory.

No way were “most people” rooting for 12 Years a Slave to lose Best Picture.

“It’s time.” It was time. The movie itself was perfect, the awards campaign was perfect, and I’ll never forget how Ellen DeGeneres appropriately put it in her monologue as Oscar host: “Option A, 12 Years a Slave wins Best Picture. Option B, you’re all racist.” That had me laughing so hard because of how true it was.

Seriously, if you are going to ever make any list of the Top 10 Best “Best Picture” winners of the Oscars, I feel that 3 movies are always going to need to be on there in order for the list to have any credibility: Casablanca, The Godfather, and 12 Years a Slave. Those 3 are not only among the greatest Oscar BP winners ever, they are also among the greatest motion pictures ever made in world cinema.
