People keep pointing out films with 10 nominations that only had one or no wins. I said 11+ nominations. Believe it or not 11 is a much more magical number than 10 at the Oscars: no film since The Color Purple had 11 nominations or more and less than 2 wins. Only Lincoln had 11 or more and just 2. All the others had 3 wins or more. So Joker is statistically guaranteed to win at least 2 Oscars, and will most likely win 3.

I never seen someone as stuck with stars as you. 1917 or Parasite winning this year would break heavier stats and it is probably happening.

I remember you saying Reneé wouldn’t win Best actress because it was 16 years apart from her last one and that never happened to an actress. You simply research some random irrelevant stat and rely too heavily on them.

Joker will only get 2 Oscars and you better get over it.

Sure, but who actually cares about Bombshell? Even if you like its makeup better than Joker’s, I can guarantee you people are going to remember the look they made for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker, having the daunting task of making a design completely unique from the other iterations of the Joker, before they remember anything in Bombshell, in which similar stuff has been done time and time again. Sometimes, less is more.

Hahaha are you kidding? What has been done BILLIONS of times before is the clown makeup in joker.

In fact, I believe Joker got a nod because it expanded to 5 nominees. If IT didn’t win best makeup for a better and harder to do clown makeup, Joker will not. Now THAT was a remarkable and haunting clown makeup

I never said Joker was guaranteed to win 3. I actually think Joker winning Makeup instead of Bombshell would be a huge upset if it happens. That’s why I labeled it as one of my wild card picks. But only 2 wins feels too low for the most nominated film of this year’s Academy Awards, and Joker has over performed at every single precursor. So it getting a 3rd win in Makeup is not at all out of the question, and YOU need to get over that!

    Academy-Award winners:

Parasite: Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay

Joker: Best Actor - Joaquin Phoenix

    Jojo Rabbit: Best Adapted Screenplay

I am predicting 1917 will win but Joker could very well take it too. I honestly can’t remember the Joker score at all – I preferred the score to Ford v Ferrari, Downton Abbey, Marriage Story, Little Women and especially 1917. I am thinking there will be a sweep (7 Oscars) for 1917 and Thomas Newman will win as a result.

You need to overcome your dislike for Joker and see beyond it. Right now, Joker is hitting all the precursors for best score. I’m not saying that 1917 can’t win, it still can upset, but it makes much more sense to predict Joker now. I think Joker will win. 1917 will be just fine with its other technical wins -cinematography and possibly both sound.

The movie overperformed in nominations so far. The relevant wins were in actor and score.

There are movies with 10 nominations walking away empty-handed. Stop with this “11 is Magic number bullshit Zzzzzz”. You made that up. If you look further, you can make any argument based on fragile stats to make a case for any movie winning any category.

“Reneé isn’t winning because never before a person whose last name started with Z won one year after a person whose first name has 3 syllabes!”

Also, the category is called “make up AND HAIRSTYLING”.

Joker has the make up only. When it comes to hairstyling, have you people seen the work done on the three leading blonde ladies?

IT wasn’t even nominated. You can’t make that comparison. Frankly, you’re just biased, butt-hurt and pissy as all hell.

You must be deliberately ignoring Joaquin Phoenix’s hair in Joker.

I love seeing your avatar 🙂

    Thank you!! ❤️

    Is 1917 that popular?

Seriously? It’s literally a top 2 contender for Best Picture and will do well with techs, meaning it’s the stronger film. I’m not talking about popularity 💀

Really don’t care about who wins here, but:

“Sometimes less is more” to defend clown makeup?

And then against Bombshell: “similar stuff has been done before”, which is said right under “other iterations of Joker”. What?

Also, what was unique about this makeup? The blue triangles on his eyes? Don’t tell me it’s the red nose.

I had no idea Joaquin’s natural hair color was green.

Anyways the movie is not the frontrunner in as many categories as you think. Visual effects, production design… makeup is a total no.

So far only Picture and cinematography

Hacksaw Ridge won sound mixing and that obviously wasnt anywhere close to being a frontrunner for BP. 1917 has sound mixing and sound editing along in a walk.

I guess he just puts a lot of dye in his hair when he’s not playing Joker so people think his natural hair color is brown. Who would have guessed?

Suicide Squad won Makeup and we all know it wasn’t a BP nominee lol, Bombshell will be fine.
