    1. Ali
    2. Chalamet
    3. Grant
    4. Elliot
    5. Driver

The Academy will have no problem giving Ali #2. He deserves to win.
Chalamet is #2 and deserves to be #2. His day will come.

According to this Grant is #2 and Elliot is #3 though.

I would be happy if Sam Elliott gets snubbed at the Oscars, he doesn’t deserve to be nominated for his flat dull performance imo. I would prefer Hugh Grant or Russell Hornsby or Jack Lowden or Nicholas Hoult. But I think they will give him a career nomination.

And yes, I agree, Sam Rockwell does not deserve a nomination for Vice.

I actually loved Sam Elliott and think he gave the best performance of ASIB

    FYC :

    Best Actress - Viola Davis
Best Actor - Delroy Lindo, Chadwick Boseman
Best Supp Actor - Daniel Kaluuya, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II

Do you think that the better reception in the UK makes Chalamet competitive for the BAFTAs?

^I think BAFTA is between Ali and Grant, but would love for Chalamet to win!

BAFTA owes Ali since they didn’t award him previous time. If not Ali, they have critically acclaimed performance of fellow Brit, Grant.

I usually agree with you but in this case I wonder if we’ve watched the same movie. I don’t find Elliott’s performance flat or dull at all.

Since this is the only major category I feel really confident in my predictions it will be the one I get wrong, right? I am predicting Ali, Chalamet, Driver, Elliott and Grant. I should make this one of my superbets if I haven’t already!

Some time ago I made a post detailing my major concern with the frontrunners of this category, and how disappointing I felt by the work in consideration.

It is my distinct pleasure to inform you all that nothing has changed in the time since! The season, for a multitude of reasons, has settled on a decidedly mediocre set of actors for this category, and I could not be more proud of all the decision-makers and their ability to commit to such lame art. What a waste. Bah humbug.

Can we stop disrespecting Mahershala Ali? The guy has been working for 20 years and he’s finally getting some recognition. His first oscar might have been undeserved but his second oscar definitely won’t be undeserved. He had the best supporting performance of 2018 IMO

    Fifth slot?

    Sam Elliot (Critics Choice, SAG)

    Or

Sam Rockwell (Golden Globes, BAFTA, After glow)
