Who would you have nominated in this category and who do you think would have won. MoNique swept that year like no other but I do believe she would have had great competition had the Academy actually looked into worthy performances. Here is my lineup:
-Marion Cotillard (Nine)
Reply
-Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan)
-Mozhan Marnò (The Stoning of Soraya M.)
-MoNique (Precious)
-Julianne Moore (A Single Man)July 22, 2020 at 5:33 pm #1203596725Of the nominees, I preferred Farmiga, but MoNique is not a bad winner at all; I am happy she has this award, actually. Consolation for the way the industry has treated her.
Have not seen much from the year, unfortunately, but I really enjoyed Amy Landecker in A Serious Man, several of the women in About Elly, Kruger in Inglourious Basterds, in addition to Moore.

I enjoyed the other performances, but I wouldn’t change anything because in my lineup Mo’Nique would always end up winning.

I was one of the few people back then who was pleasantly surprised with Gyllenhaal’s inclusion and didn’t outright dismiss it as a churlish “coattail nomination.”
Maggie Gyllenhaal, “Crazy Heart”

Diane Kruger, “Inglorious Basterds”
Mélanie Laurent, “Inglorious Basterds”
Mo’Nique, “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire”
Julianne Moore, “A Single Man”July 22, 2020 at 7:19 pm #1203596792Literally was Monique and 4 seat warmers. Best Oscar acting win sweep that hasn’t been ruined by the internet of people overrating the performance and win.

Probably Anna Kendrick. She was the stronger of the two Up in the Air ladies.

The studio screwed Marion C. by pushing her as lead actress in Nine.
Ironically it worked out lovely for Julianne in the end.

Agreed. She was simply remarkable in every possible way.
