With Colman out, here’s where I think we stand:

    Frontrunner

Regina King, If Beale Street Could Talk

    Could win

    Amy Adams, Vice

    On the brink

    Claire Foy, First Man
    Natalie Portman, Vox Lux
    Rachel Weisz, The Favourite
Sissy Spacek, The Old Man and the Gun
    Emma Stone, The Favourite
    Nicole Kidman, Boy Erased

    Longer shots

Margot Robbie, Mary Queen of Scots
    Michelle Yeoh, Crazy Rich Asians
    Elizabeth Depicki, Widows
    Maura Tierney, Beautiful Boy
    Marina de Tavira, Roma
    Emily Blunt, A Quiet Place

    Shouldn’t be written off

    Tilda Swinton, Suspiria
    Rachel McAdams, Disobedience
    Thomasin McKenzie, Leave No Trace
    Vera Farmiga, The Front Runner
    Ann Dowd, Hereditary
Kathy Bates, On the Basis of Sex
    Kayli Carter, Private Life
    Millicent Simmons, A Quiet Place

    Pitch black horses

    Janelle Monae, Welcome to Marwen
    Diane Kruger, Welcome to Marwen
    Laura Dern, JT Leroy
Tessa Thompson, Sorry to Bother You
Regina Hall, The Hate U Give
    Meryl Streep, Mary Poppins Returns
    Mackenzie Davis, Tully
    Cynthia Erivo, Widows
    Elisabeth Moss, The Seagull

I am baffled by Fox Searchlight’s tactics. Really hope Adams is great in Vice or this category is gonna be dead now

LOL @ Stone supporting. Along with Weisz in supporting that should lock in Colman in lead.

    CONGRATS DAMY!!! ITS HAPPENING!!!!

I don´t see Amy getting nominated. The front runners are Regina King and Claire Foy.The rest of the top 5 imo will be Margot Robbie, Emma Stone and Nicole Kidman will fight Rachel Weisz for the fifth spot.I don´t see Sissy and Natalie getting in sadly.

Huh? Adams is definitely getting nominated before Robbie, Sissy, Portman, and Kidman. Test screening reports have said the movie is good and it’s been reported that Adams has a few volcanic scenes. Not to mention Vice will be stronger than Mary Queen of Scots, Boy Erased, The Old Man & the Gun and Vox Lux.

    My predictions:

    1. Amy Adams, Vice
    2. Claire Foy, First Man
    3. Emma Stone, The Favourite
    4. Rachel Weisz, The Favourite
    5. Regina King, If Beale Street Could Talk
    • Natalie Portman, Vox Lux
    • Nicole Kidman, Boy Erased
    • Elizabeth Debicki, Widows

I could see Adams and Weisz not making it though. Adams was snubbed for Arrival, so it wouldn’t surprise me. If they don’t make it, I think Kidman is definitely in and maybe Spacek or Portman. I don’t think Robbie is getting in without Ronan getting into lead, which I don’t think will happen. This movie is premiering way too late. What a shame.

Oscar FYC -- Give Viola Davis her second Oscar!

I hope whoever wins will thank Olivia for doing the right thing. Whoever wins should be forever grateful. Lol

I don’t know how to feel about this decision since it is actually not a “wrong” thing to submit Colman to the leading actress category ,but it definitely hurts her chances of getting an Oscars now.

I think there’s still a path for her to win in lead. She’s got career best raves, her film will be top 5 BP (maybe even top 3), she could easily win a bunch of critic awards, BAFTA is almost a lock, and GG could be hers as well if The Favourite is Comedy/Musical. She would have swept in supporting imo, but there is still a path there in lead.

It’s Olivia COLMAN not Coleman. Let’s get the name of this category’s next winner correct.

    This didn’t age well

I think Adams snub for arrival had more to do with vote splitting between Arrical and Nocturnal Animals that year.
