I just watched Vice and Amy Adams winning for that would be hands down ridiculous.

The nominations are just nine days away.  Rachel Weisz is A-OK for me in ‘The Favourite.’ She hopefully deserves to get her second nomination in a whopping 13 years in the Best Supporting Actress category. Time really flies, you know. Mind you, Weisz won the Oscar in 2006 for ‘The Constant Gardener.’

Just move Olivia Colman to supporting so other underwhelming performances don’t take it. Thank you.

If both Rachel Weisz and Amy Adams will be nominated, it could be a Bening-Swank situation happened in 2000 and 2005 as well. Can Weisz win secondly also? If yes, she will be the third actress winning two supporting actress Oscars ( after Shelley Winters and Dianne Wiest ).

In spite of the above, I think it will be a two-way race between Amy and Regina!

We are always complaining about the too obvious winners in awards show calendars, but this year is very-very competitive in Supporting Actress Oscar category!!! 🙂

After near ten years, I still can not understand how Sandra Bullock won Oscar for that role and film… Any other four nominees would have been a better choice!

Sandra Bullock’s narrative was undeniable and inspirational. The other four were better performances, but she was ultimately the right choice.

How can those two ideas coexist?

Weisz should be the winner. Adams and King are overrated for just Ok-ish performances.

Weisz is leading in her movie, so she should not have been a winner.

That would be amazing…if she was supporting.

I would love for that to happen but am doubtful. After seeing the screen time per actress I really feel like Stone should be submitted in lead.

This is Hollywood. Of course her win was to ride off her inspirational journey. She wasn’t the best (subjectively) but good enough to reward a solid career. It was definitely one of the most memorable wins whether you approve of the winner or not.

Colman is lead. The film has three leads, but one of them is the heart of the movie – Colman.

Weisz is leading in her movie, so she should not have been a winner.

The tragedy of this category is that the actual Oscar deserving performances are considered category fraud (Weisz, Stone, Blunt) and the 2 frontrunners (Adams and King) with screen time considered for supporting give overrated (and in my personal pinion) undeserving performances.

About The Favourite, Stone is the lead (the movie starts and ends with her, she has the most screentime etc.). I agreed the 3 are leads, but I’m OK with Colman going lead and Weisz going supporting (Stone is lead for sure).

The line between what is considered a lead and supporting performance is sometime blurred (it’s screentime?, it’s impact?), and there is not an exact formula to determined what should go to each category.

I know people won’t agreed here, but I prefer a deserving performance get rewarded over an underserving one, even if there is some “category fraud” involved.

I have a feeling Weisz/Stone may split Lead/Supporting votes and one of them might not even be nominated…Colman is certain to be Lead though.
