Stone is a non-factor. Any Academy voter with the least bit of sense knows a vote for her is an immediate halt to a starlet establishing her legacy with them. They had an opportunity to ruin Jennifer Lawrence with American Hustle because precursors like the Globes and BAFTA chose her over Lupita which was maddening.

This brings us to Hilary Swank. Sometimes winning two Oscar so young is not a blessing.

If Kate Winslet had ended up playing Sarah Churchill like originally planned this whole thing would go completely differently. Winslet would be nominated in lead and Colman would be winning in supporting 🙂

I guess Winslet is punching herself left and right for turning down this potentially oscar-winning role. She wants a second Oscar pretty bad.

Who in their right mind would turn down any of the three main roles in The Favourite? Wow.

Do you guys think both Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett are seething they turned down Sarah role? I believe they do. I absolutely loved Weisz in this role but could you imagine what Beckinsale could do with it?

I would have LOVED to see Kate Beckinsale in that role, shit.

And for the above poster, I don’t think she turned it down, she was attached but then a scheduling issue came up

Currently watching Daddy Day Care (because I’m bored, it’s on Netflix, and childhood nostalgia, anyways not the point), I totally forgot King was in this and I have got to say, why are people saying that she needs the Oscar for IBSCT when she needed it for this role. “Looks can be deceiving? We’re in a trailer park,” should’ve been the clip they showed before she got her Oscar.

I don’t think so. There’s a reason why she’s called Winslut, she has no problem committing category fraud (she has committed it plenty of times).

lol. I love Kate Winslet. She’s one of my faves and I’m rooting for her to win Oscar #2, but I couldn’t help but think of this hypothetical:

Had Kate Winslet not frauded her way to a lead win, Streep would have won her third Oscar for Doubt. Viola Davis would have been the second black woman to win Best Actress for The Help, and no one would have inspired Viola to category fraud, so she would have been the most nominated black woman for Best Actress with Fences, finally allowing White Michelle to win her elusive first oscar for Manchester.

However, none of this happened because Kate Winslet trail blazed the whole category fraud concept to win a Lead oscar in ’09. Karma came back to bite hit her in the @ss years later and she unfortunately lost her elusive second oscar to one of the biggest category fraud perpetrators in recent history, Alicia Vikanlead.

Winslet has always had an insatiable appetite for awards hardware. She’s want to win again.

She’s as thirsty for an Oscar as I am for that 4.0 GPA (and alcohol but that’s a whole separate issue).

I don’t think winslet would’ve fit the role as well as weisz, blanchett would probably be just as fabulous but for her to be beaten by emma stone just doesn’t feel right

I do wonder who else was considered for abigail tho, didn’t emma say yorgos wanted a british actress?

After she lost the Oscar to Alicia Vikander, she came out to present an award with Reese Whiterspoon. She appeared to be obviously emotional and angry. I originally thought those who won in lead actress won’t care about supporting wins.

Btw how this happened ? I mean are strong enough to trash The Academy for reward Best Cinematography, Costume and that during the break, but no one was able to call them out for what is a clear case of category fraud ? I mean who remembers what really happened ?

    Please tell me.

The category that year is the pinnacle of category fraud. The ones who are voting for the nominations are fellow actors. Perhaps the actors had the fantasy of ‘category-frauding’ their way into Oscar glory one day for themselves, so they allow it to happen.

I remembered Diane Ladd did call them out and famously said Rooney ‘Moore’.
