If it was just Weisz in Supporting throughout this award season would she be sweeping or would King still be the front runner?

Amy Adams should fire her “team”.

If ever there was a category soft enough to win on nomination #6 it was this one and she totally flopped.

I don’t think it’s her teams fault, it’s Vice for being a divisive movie and her role not being one that people want her to win for. When she has had great roles like American Hustle, Arrival, Nocturnal Animals, even The Fighter.. Vice isn’t one worth winning.

    my rankings…

    for winning:

    1) Rachel Weisz
    2) Regina King
    3) Marina de Tavira
    4) Amy Adams
    5) Emma Stone

    for preference:

    1) Rachel Weisz
    2) Emma Stone
    3) Amy Adams
    4) Marina de Tavira
    5) Regina King

i think that Weisz would, at least, win the SAG, which would put her in a front runner status

But she flopped on the TV side too. Got overtaken by Pat Arquette and her paper speeches.

Vice might pale in comparison to some of her other nominations but I think it’s compares well to the likely winner Regina King. Amy should been a contender. What happens next nomination if she’s up against another Blanchett-Hathaway juggernaut!

true. that’s probably vote splitting due to some people wanting to vote for supporting actress vs limited series actress. also, people loveee to vote for Patricia Arquette, idk why, but they do. That released at the right time for voters to forget about Sharp Objects.

I think she will get her win, she’s been in too many great movies and is a great ensemble player, and has the capacity to win for a lead role, there will always be another Blanchett sweep-style win but I think if she has the right role, maybe Woman in the Window? she will win. if not this next year, within a couple of years.

i’m sure she finds it funny that she will be a new record holder for not winning, she loves the nom, but I don’t think a win is essential for her. so when it does happen, she will be surprised.

I don’t understand what’s Arquette’s appeal. And why Adams keeps losing even when she’s an obvious pick. She seems like such a nice person, I don’t get why her peers don’t award her. She probably doesn’t campaign while Arquette does?

Honestly, I would get tired of Arquette continuously reading monotonously from a piece of paper but I guess the voters love it. Adams seems to be one of those people letting the performance speak for itself (with the final scenes of the last two episodes of Sharp Objects as your showcase, why wouldn’t you). But Adams needs to pick up campaigning if she’s going to win that Emmy.

Yes. She still can. Emmys, unlike Critics Choice(who cares about them) and SAG, aren’t sheep. Let’s hope they don’t go with Patricia just because she won the fucking Globe. Besides, there’ll be no vote-split this time.

Bless the Emmys for not being the Academy with their sheep mentality. Arquette is probably going to get double nominated and deal with vote splitting, so the wheel goes around and karma sets in lol.

Arquette was very good in Escape at Dannemora and her role is way more award bait role than Adams role; Arquette is also a “twitter activist” and i am pretty sure that this help her.

Adams never campaign too much; she always do the vanilla things; she always is the “nice girl” and this is boring; if she had won the GG, she never would do a speech like Close or King did; she doesn’t have any social media (her husband have, then why she doesn’t ?), she never shows that she wants to win, and everybody does this kind of things,  so why she doesn’t do too?

exactly, but you think that she will do that?

it was cute, but who gave the “political speech” was Arquette, not her

Adams had her best chance at an Oscar ironically on her first nomination- she was a big critics favorite who was giving a very funny entertaining performance that was a breath of fresh air in her film. She could have won if enough voters had seen the film. In a weaker year Adams could have been a serious contender for American Hustle but unfortunately she was a very distant second. It is weird how she has never campaigned at all though. I know Portman was hands down the early favorite and Stone always was a strong contender but was Adams ever in the conversation before she was snubbed? Technically that really should have been her year. Bias against sci fi performances maybe?

Maybe, I don’t know. Emmy campaigning isn’t as extreme as Oscar campaigning depending on your view point and starts later (not to mention the unpredictability in winners), and we’ve never seen her do so for the former before. So she might give it a go and save her energy for closer to the ceremony, especially if it’s for the performance that she may consider her best.

    They never learn lol.
