Who are your favorite supporting ladies in horror? I’m trying to come up with a proper Top 10.

I’d say Betty Buckley in “Split”; Nancy Loomis in “Halloween”; Lorna River in “Drag Me to Hell”; Tristan Risk in “American Mary”; Krista Stadler in “Krampus”; Betty Gabriel & Allison Williams in “Get Out”; Janet Leigh in “Psycho”; Ellen Sandweiss in “The Evil Dead”; Ruth Gordon in “Rosemary’s Baby”; Toni Collette in “The Sixth Sense”; Malin Akerman in “The Final Girls”; Rima Te Wiata in “Housebound”; Jung Yu-mi in “Train to Busan”; Courteney Cox in “Scream & Scream 2”; Jada Pinkett Smith in “Scream 2”; Parker Posey in “Scream 3”; Hayden Panettiere in “Scream 4” and Katherine Isabelle in “See No Evil 2” would make my long-list.

I always felt that Judy Parfitt was so good and so criminally underrated in Dolores Claiborne.

    THIS.

Dolores Claiborne is in general a criminally underrated thriller. But while Bates and JJ Leigh get a mention once in a while in some 90s Best Actress snub fan polls, Judy Parfitt gets no love and respect. The scene where she tells Dolores how her husband died, while needle pointing, is bone chilling, and has stayed with me since the first time i saw the movie.

Liked Piper Laurie, but I didn’t care for her performance that much to put her in my Top 10.

Dolores Claiborne is an amazing film, and both Bates & Parfitt were Oscar-worthy in it.

Piper Laurie in Carrie is the creme de la creme.

I love so many here: Ruth Gordon, Piper Laurie, Drew Barrymore, Courteney Cox, etc.

But my fave of all time is Zelda Rubinstein in the Poltergeist films. With “Step into the light…” she delivers one of the most iconic lines in horror. And she is by turns chilling, stern and kind. Have loved this character and performance since I was a kid.

So many great choices here! It’s such a shame people do not treat performances in horror movies with respect they deserve. She hasn’t been mentioned yet but for me she should have fucking got nominated for an Oscar. She was abso-fuckin-lutely outstanding. Bow down to HH bitches.

I forgot Lili Taylor in The Conjuring. She was really good.
