Sorry, don’t even know for sure who’s nominated to be honest, haven’t paid any attention.

(Nothing wrong with the BAFTAs or anyone being interested, of course, I have just decided this year to ignore most non-US guild awards and haven’t checked in on what the competition is).January 31, 2013 at 1:17 pm #89553I have always wondered why no one has tackled the life story of Vivien Leigh. She was protrayed by Julia Ormond in “My Week with Marilyn” but we did not see the true Vivien. We need a story of her and Laurence together. I don’t know who could play her but think of what could be shown, get electrolsis, sickness and so much more stuff that I think you should all read about yourselfs.

I had never heard of him, but after checking out some pictures of him, he certainly has the look to play Polanski. Not many actors would be able to play him convincingly just because he has a very distinct look.
I just realized that Bryan Cranston kind of resembles Polanski as well.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 31, 2013 at 1:34 pm #89557Honestly, the last thing I want to see right now is another ‘biopic’. So much of it depends on the biases of the director, even when they are ‘endorsed’ by the person the biopic is ‘about’. And often, they are so full of crap, and/or if those biases dont line up with my own (lol), they tend to piss me off.
Also, how lazy. I’d rather see something that passes as original. Of course there are always exceptions. So, if it must be a ‘biopic’, my own preference is that they go back into history, as far back as they have to knowledge to do. Not that I’m that against fiddling with history, revisionists aside.

I havent seen Almaric in everything, but outside of his woogie-eyed turn in a Bond film, he has really impressed me. Plus, geographically, he’d be an interesting guy to tackle Polanski.
Just a suggestion, but you may wish to check him out in The Diving Bell and The Butterfly, Mesrine, and his short turn in Munich. I intend to check out his voice work in The Rabbi’s Cat. I also still need to see Cosmopolis.ReplyCopy URLThe Sunne in Splendour.
I prefer my roses whiteJanuary 31, 2013 at 1:45 pm #89559Surely HBO should have made the Hattie McDaniel Story with Monique by now?
Mo’Nique refuses to play a maid or any other ‘stereotype’, which is why she turned down Ocatvia Spencer’s role, Minny, in The Help. Assuming the pic would focus on her Oscar-winning turn in Gone with the Wind. Imagine two-time Oscar winner Mo’Nique! People on this board would have been PISSED. The greatest thing I’ve seen in years is Mo’Nique verbally refusing to campaign, and still winning.

That’s very honorable of her, but surely the whole point of making a film about Hattie McDaniel would be to show she was a lot more than just a maid.
