    What ? Even Hairstyle ? Hairstyle ? Really ?

I mean, CAS is already a big upset for Interstellar and American Sniper… But I didn’t know that the industry loved Birdman that Much. That’s insane.

Why in hell I think Boyhood has still a chance ? 😭

    I mean, Hairstyle ? 😂

Damn I almost got 100% at CAS! If only I switched to Dragon at the last second like I wanted too.

I don’t imagine that the Hairstyling award will contribute to BP votes for Birdman. Grand Budapest will get the lion’s share of support from that branch if this is any indication.

I agree but it shows a big big support from the industry.

I think the reason why the Birdman VS Boyhood case this year is so hard to predict is that we can’t really know how Boyhood is regarded in these crafts. Perhaps people in the craft branches love it, and perhaps they don’t, since Boyhood was never meant to compete in things like Hair, Sound and Production Design.

Considering Birdman was such a frontrunner after the three big guilds, it surprisingly underperformed at BAFTA. If you look at the things that won SAG + PAG + DGA and ended up winning Oscar BP, every single of them had fared better at BAFTA. I think this means something, but then again it could be nothing. I guess we’ll all find out come Feb 22nd.

What movies did “Birdman” beat for Best Contemporary Hair Styling? Keaton’s wig was good and others looked appropriate, especially for its theater milieu. Nobody’s hair distracted me.

If you look at the tech/craft categories at the Oscars, Birdman does not have the same support it has with the guilds; in fact it was only nominated by two tech branches. The editing situation is tricky, but also consider that it didn’t get the expected nom for production design, and wasn’t even shortlisted for visual effects (it won supporting visual effects at VES). To me this shows some vulnerability for Birdman, but then again, 12 Yrs a Slave won without expected cinematography, sound or music noms.
