ReplyCopy URLJune 16, 2022 at 10:25 am #1204986328Queen Ana De Armas is gonna kill this role. The casting really popped off and her voice sounds great. I hope she gets some award show love for this biopic.
Yes, she looks beyond the words ! If she’s that great in all the movie and if Michelle Yeoh is nominated for EEAAO, it will be quite a compétition. Is it me or the next Oscars’ edition is already more exciting than the two last ones ?

June 16, 2022 at 11:25 am #1204986529She looks great in the new teaser, but based on the rumors that have been swirling around about this movie being a mess I am going to wait for more.

Good, hopefully it will capture a decent chunk of the novel then!

I remember reading rumors that she struggled with Marilyn’s voice but we won’t know for sure until a full trailer/the movie releases. She did ADR sessions in late 2020 and posted about it on her IG stories.
“I tried! It only took me nine months of dialect coaching, and practicing, and some ADR sessions [re-recording dialogue after filming]. It was a big torture, so exhausting. My brain was fried.” — Ana de Armas on her Marilyn Monroe accent in BLONDE pic.twitter.com/YuQ1aSCDYN

She worked so hard for this movie. I’m positive she’s gonna pull off the accent well.
ReplyCopy URLJune 17, 2022 at 1:39 am #1204987691It seems people didn’t learn the lesson with Spencer and Kristen Stewart. Blonde will alineate audiences and the NC-17 rating won’t help. Before proclaiming Oscar winner Ana de Armas, please read the original novel. It’s the full antithesis of Oscar bait biopic (Rape mentions, baby head talking, menstrual blood references and that’s just the peak of the iceberg). It’s full meta universe about the conception of Marilyn and the real persona of Norma Jean. Pure psychological terror.
If somehow Netflix does the magic again, the nom is the reward and we know how Stewart barely made it.
ReplyCopy URLJune 17, 2022 at 2:24 am #1204987716I actually want to see her acting as Marilyn Monroe with her natural accent. I don’t know why people want to see a dead person portrayed in cinema the way the person lived back then. I guess imagination has died.
