Figured I’d go ahead and start this topic. I personally can’t wait to see it this weekend. A24 hardly disappoints and both trailers released for this makes this seem like it’s going to be such a fun time at the Cinema. The initial reactions are very strong. I’m excited!

    Rachel Sennott just did that!
If you are like me, and became a fan of hers after seeing her performance in Shiva Baby, you most definitely won’t be disappointed at her turn in Bodies Bodies Bodies. Maria Bakalova and company are a great ensemble. Everyone played off each other, everyone performed well with each other and this was a such a fun ensemble, but this is Rachel’s show.
I had a lot of fun with this. I admired the choices of Editing here, the script, the visuals, and craved more of the music. At times, it felt like this would work just as well as a play as much as it’s working as a feature film.
If you’re look for a fun campy murder mystery with fun dialogue, fun performances, and keeps you guessing until the end, check out Bodies Bodies Bodies

A24 dropping another banger this year!

This should be another hit for A24 if marketed effectively. Halina Reijn is going 2/2 (following her excellent debut, Instinct). Love that she’s breaking into the US.

I don’t know if this is going to be a hit just yet. It’s personally in my top 5 this year, but this is very much a younger audience/ very niche type of film. Amandla, Maria, and Rachel are all great here, but even Pete Davidsons small role I don’t think will draw a massive crowd to this, and he’s arguably the biggest draw to getting people to see this. I could be wrong, but I’d except this to be decent after its wide release, but not a BO hit. I can see this skipping anyone that’s not a teen or in their 20s. I feel like this is destined to be a cult classic over time, but I don’t see people rushing to see this in theaters. Hopefully I’m wrong and this pulls a Hereditary or Midsommar. Spoiler alert: this is better than both!

In the original script Bee (played by Maria Bakalova) was supposed to be Asian. But once again we were deprived of an Asian lead for another white blonde girl.

Interesting and I get where you are coming from, but Maria did a great job here, the exact opposite of what she did in Borat. I’m interested to see how you feel about her casting after you watch the film.
Amandla, Chase, Maria, and Rachel all felt perfectly cast and were in complete unison throughout the film. They all played off each other perfectly.
Let’s also not forget Maria is not your typical blonde white girl. I’d argue she’s fighting much harder for roles than your average blonde actress. She deserved this role and nailed it.

I already did. I thought she was fine. And so was the movie. It didn’t quite live up to its hype for me. It turned out be more of a murder mystery than a true horror and I solved the twist in the first half of the movie. But maybe that’s my fault as I watch way too many movies in this genre. However, the movie is really worth a watch because of Rachel Sennott. She is the one who impressed me. This girl is outstanding!!! Her talent and comedic skills are remarkable.

I love that you said that! I went with two others and we all said the same thing. She completely stole the show. I’ll wait to talk spoilers for awhile, as I think this has only opened in NY and CA, but yes 1000 percent agreed

Feeling very lucky to have been able to attend a screening of this before it goes wide. Bodies Bodies Bodies is absolutely worth watching with a crowd. Had a lot of fun with this one. A sharp satire of how we micromanage both our own self-image and others’ perceptions of ourselves through a Gen-Z lens. Electric ensemble all around but Rachel Sennott & Lee Pace were my personal highlights. Put them in everything.
