comparing the lengths of standing ovations is pretty pointless, obviously both films were enthusiastically received, although it did generate one headline which called chalamet “king of the claps,” so I’m at peace

I know her role is tiny, but what was Sevigny like?

Best Supporting Actor: Brian Tyree Henry (Causeway)September 3, 2022 at 5:49 am #1205064420I can’t wait to see this. For something with such graphic violence (apparently, idk I haven’t seen it but that’s what people are saying) to still receive mostly very positive reviews is pretty extraordinary.

Even smaller, no more than 5 minutes on screen, she’s very intense though.

My thoughts exactly.

ReplyCopy URLNovember 22, 2022 at 7:52 pm #1205164674This movie is top ten of the year.
The crying all around from great Taylor Russell who is total lead. To creepy Mark Rylance, an unrecognizable MichaelStuhbarg and Chalamet. Great that Chalamet is taking risk like this.

In right world Taylor would be in convo but the cannibal topic will probably turn some off.
The cinematography is gorgeous in this and deserves some attention.November 25, 2022 at 11:58 pm #1205166967This is a superior film to Call Me By Your Name.
I found myself connecting with this much more than I anticipated.
Also, I learned Michael Stuhlbarg would be an excellent Joker?
December 3, 2022 at 5:53 pm #1205177222I gotta say (I will know this is going to be a very unpopular opinion): Taylor Russell was the only bad thing about this movie.
I know she’s being praised, but I just don’t get it.
Her performance was awful, I wasn’t able to connect with her.
I think she lacks intensity as a performer. The way she delivers lines is always very whispery and bland. Very Kristen Stewart circa Twilight.
She wasn’t good in anything that I saw from her tbh: Waves and the Escape Room-saga. And she gets cast in great roles. But she always play the roles like a very naive type of girl. I just hope that gets that intensity. Kristen Stewart made me ate every single bad review i gave on her performances with her perfect Diana in “Spencer”, maybe that happen for Russell too (let’s hope).
But for this role: Mia Isaac, Zendaya, Jordan Kristine Seamón, Yara Shahidi, Amandla Stenberg, Storm Reid, Jasmin Savoy Brown would have been better options tbh.I loved the script. Chalamet was amazing. Mark Rylance was (hands down) the MVP. And the rest of the supporting cast was also amazing: Chloe, Michael, Jessica Harper, Marc.
