I mean…it’s not a bad movie but (in my opinion) doesn’t deserve any nomination, especially the nomination for Best Picture. Saoirse ‘s acting is pretty simple and the movie is too slow and a bit boring. So I wanna now why you think that it deserve their nominations at the Oscars.

Brooklyn is the best film out of the nominees. Period.

    Best film of the year.
Best performance of the year (or tied with Moss).
    Best screenplay of the year.

I have to say, even though it’s not one of my top 5 Best Picture nominees, I’m quite fond of “Brooklyn.” It’s not a great film, but a lovely one nonetheless.

I just don’t understand why would anyone say that it’s not a good film? Of course it’s not about some bullshit Hollywood issue with some seriously over the hills “actressing” and it’s also not a superhero movie or a car-chase movie. But a film can be good without any of those.

I know American people prefer films like Mad Max, and while the film is well-liked elsewhere as well (not as overrated as among American movie fans), Europeans have a different taste and we like films like Brooklyn. A simple and beuatiful film with brain and good writing.

Lovely is like the perfect word to describe it. A perfectly lovely little movie. My grandma would love it haha.

I was charmed by it and really enjoyed. I also realize a romance movie may never win the best picture Oscar again if one has. I think best actress is between Brie and Soarse. There just is not much passionate support for a romatic film like this that is why I put at #8 in my best picture predictions. But I loved it. Boring my asscheeks if you found this film boring go back to watching Nascar

I loved Brooklyn and it deserves BP nomination . But what romance ? Ellis didn’t love Jim or Tony . 🙂

Psh. “Brooklyn” was absolutely fantastic and Ronan should be winning. I will, however, say I wasn’t a huge fan of Cohen’s performance…

I think you meant to say “Brooklyn is the best period film out of the nominees.”
