Are there any scenes in movies in which the camera work added to an actor’s performance?   In other words, does the decision to have a close up on an actor enhance the performance?

Are there any scenes in movies in which the camera work took away from an actor’s performance?  In other words, does the decision to have the camera away from the actor from a key scene take away from the potential impact of the performance?

In Gone with the Wind whenever they had intimite moments between Scarlett and Rhett the camera would always zoom in to a close up.
