Do we think our nine nominees can all win an Oscar come 9th Feb?
If they do, they will join an elite list of just 2018 and 2014 films to achieve the feat since the expanded Best Picture ballot.
What is our best chance of this happening again? Who is most at risk of missing out on a win?

How it could happen:
Ford V Ferrari – Sound Editing
The Irishman – Visual Effects
Jojo Rabbit – Adapted Screenplay
Joker – Leading Actor
Little Women – Costume Design
Marriage Story – Supporting Actress
1917 – Picture
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood – Supporting Actor
Most likely to go home empty handed: Jojo Rabbit & Ford v Ferrari.

The Irishman is going empty-handed. Truly the American Hustle of this year.January 13, 2020 at 11:28 am #1203281726
1917, Marriage Story, Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood, Joker and Parasite are all going to win at least 1 Oscar on Feb. 9th.
Ford v Ferrari has 2 categories where it could win but I am not predicting it: Film Editing and Sound Editing.
The Irishman can win for Adapted Screenplay but I think Little Women will win that one. Maybe Visual Effects but again I don’t think so.
Little Women’s best bets are Adapted Screenplay and Costume Design.
Jojo Rabbit could win Costume Design but I am predicting Little Women.January 13, 2020 at 2:48 pm #1203282299
I get the American Hustle reference, but going into oscar night American Hustle was still competitive for wins and seen as a legitimate contender for best picture having won many awards during the season; whereas the irishman has been underperforming greatly and mainly coasting along for the rideJanuary 13, 2020 at 4:04 pm #1203282504
Unfortunately for Greta Gerwig, Little Women seems the most likely to go home empty-handed as I don’t buy it winning Adapted Screenplay over The Irishman and Jojo Rabbit, and the Academy has recently gone less traditional with their costume winners (though in fairness this isn’t the strongest year for the category – The Favourite would’ve handily beaten any of these). Of course the optics of Little Women being the only BP nominee with no wins would inevitably result in more bad press, especially after Gerwig’s Lady Bird went 0 for 5 two years ago.
That said, all nominees could be considered at least competitive somewhere.January 13, 2020 at 4:33 pm #1203282627
Jojo Rabbit and The Irishman have the toughest sells. The Irishman is 2nd in a lot of categories probably, but noticeably behind. Jojo Rabbit doesn’t really have any super likely category at all – Screenplay isn’t that strong.
If I could tell myself at the start of the season that The Irishman would be this year’s American Hustle, I would laugh.
For Your Consideration:
Best Picture: Wolfwalkers
Best Animated Feature: WolfwalkersJanuary 13, 2020 at 5:20 pm #1203282748
1917, Parasite, OUATIH, Marriage Story and Joker are guaranteed wins barring major upsets.
I currently have Ford v Ferrari winning Editing (it could also win Sound Editing), but The Irishman is a very close second there. Irishman is also my second choice at the minute for Visual Effects and Adapted Screenplay. I think it’ll take home something but I’m not sure what.
I have Little Women winning two – Adapted and Costumes. Jojo Rabbit is the only one I think is going home empty-handed as of right now. It’s very feasible they’ll spread the love a bit more than I’m predicting at the minute though.January 13, 2020 at 5:53 pm #1203282811
Little Women can win costumes since they snubbed the best costumes of the year (Rocketman, Dolemite, Downton), JoJo Rabbit depends on Little Women winning Adapted or not. It’s the only Oscar it can win.
The Irishman is this year’s American Hustle? People keep bringing up those losses as if The Irishman doesn’t have a better comparison. It’s Scorsese’s own Gangs of New York, 10 noms, 0 wins. The Irishman is this year’s Gangs.January 13, 2020 at 6:15 pm #1203282845
Nope. Irishman + Jojo getting shutoutJanuary 13, 2020 at 7:02 pm #1203282900
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: Picture, Supp. Actor, Original Screenplay, Costume Design, Production Design.
1917: Director, Cinematography, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing.
The Irishman: Best Film Editing.
Joker: Actor, Original Score.
Jojo Rabbit: Adapted Screenplay.
Marriage Story: Supporting Actress
Parasite: International Film.
Little Women has best chance with Costumes and Ford v Ferrari has best chance with Sound Editing/Mixing.
But I’m gonna say its a no.
Have a great day if you see this!
