Last year Paramount believed “Interstellar” was its top Oscar contender, but then “Selma” suddenly zoomed ahead near the home stretch, scoring a nom for Best Picture that was denied to “Interstellar.” Now Paramount is pushing “The Big Short” hard for the top prize and — yeowsa — “Anamolisa” just got nominated for Best Picture at the Indie Spirits, perhaps suggesting that the same kind of switcheroo is about to happen again. “Anamolisa” is a polarizing film. Many people LOVE IT PASSIONATELY while others shrug it off as a pretentious trifle. Personally, I think it’s got a real shot at a Best Pic nom. U agree?

I would love that to happen. There hasn’t been a movie like “Anomalisa” ever before, and the best picture oscar is supposed to nominate and award exceptional filmmaking. I hope Paramount campaigns hard for Anomalisa. I don’t think “Inside Out” is better than “Anomalisa” at all, and if “Inside Out” gets nominated for Original Screenplay, then “Anomalisa” should get in for Adapted Screenplay.

Nope. Inside Out will be the only animated film this year with even a sliver of a chance to get in for Best Picture.

FYC: Ready Player One. Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects, Original Score, Production Design, Director and BEST PICTURE (make it happen Oscars!!)

I think this has a far better chance than Inside Out. There is ALOT of support and passion for this movie and I think that will translate with the Mark Duplasses and Lena Dunhams of the Academy (aka the young hip crowd). As much as I love Inside Out, I think the thunder is gone

My question is: what film does it bump? There are already 12 films that seem highly likely (and the Big Short isn’t one of them). . I’m personally not predicting Anomalisa although it does seem possible for it to happen…

I am absolutely predicting Creed will be nominated; that’s the movie that wasn’t expected that I am certain will make it in to the BP category.

I just watched the trailer, which felt like a stop-motion mashup of Up in the Air and Her (gee, I wonder why I thought of a Spike Jonze film?). While it does look god, and will probably be considered better than Inside Out, keep in mind that Inside Out is what got Pixar back on their feet after three disappointments since 2011. Inside Out definitely has a higher chance, unless somehow Anomalisa manages to actually become a recognizable name with casual awards season fans. However, I do predict that Charlie Kaufman will win Adapted Screenplay for the film.

I doubt it I think it’s just too polerizing for the academy it’s sure to do well in critics groups but I don’t see the industry and the televised awards putting it into the best picture catagory
