Since there are some potentially good movies of CB which are planned for 2018 and later like-
    1. Where’d You Go, Bernadette?
    2. Lucille Ball Biopic

Is there a chance of winning her 3rd Oscar?

It’s certainly a matter of time – I for one think she gets too much praise as a thespian, but her third Oscar, if not in the next 10 years then the next five, is as good as purchased and ready for delivery. She’s got all the esteem behind her as a sort of DDL of actresses.

It’s just a matter of enough critics digging whatever she does and then she’s good for a third.

I think the Lucille Ball biopic will get her Oscar No. 3. Sorkin + Blanchett sounds like a winning combo for her.

If they see her as Day-Lewis, her nomination count can remain in the single digits for a third win. If they prefer her to lock in with a double digit nod count it’ll be a wait.

Active two time winners close to garner double digit nod status:
    2/8: Denzel Washington
    2/7: Cate Blanchett

She WILL get her 3rd trophy at some point but I don’t see it happening so soon. She will keep collecting noms with ease though

Just looking at what she has coming out soon, I’d say Where’d You Go, Bernadette could net her another nom and maybe a win if she is as great as we know she can be in Lead or if they catagory fraud her into supporting actress.
Looking at her stage stuff, I could totally see a studio adapting “The Maids” and “The Present” into a movie and her winning for those as well.

Personally, I think the Lucille Ball movie will get her third for her though…if it’s ever made.

Yes, I think it will take 6 or 7 years at most to get her that third Oscar, she’s close. She’s not the kind of actor or actress where 2 trophies seem enough or even too much. I think everyone is willing to give her another Oscar in a short time.

Cate is all about getting her numbers up in Best Actress. She’s not chasing additional nods in supporting unless she absolutely is.

She’s not over praised at all. She has Streepian level chops. And she’s the better actress of the two.

probably, she’s liked enough and managed to get double nods in the same year, something even Meryl Streep failed to do in 2002. It’s eventually going to happen

She can definitely win a third but I don’t think so soon. She’s the closest to Streep in terms of stable nomination count though I think she would have to be on Blue Jasmine praise or above to ever win a third one in lead. I see Saorise Ronan also getting constant nominations as well.

She will definitely win a 3rd oscar though I’m not sure when. I’m thinking she’ll be nominated for Where’d you go, Bernadette, but not win. If and when the Lucille Ball biopic is made, that could be a winner.

Honestly, I could see her having a similar awards situation to Katharine Hepburn in which she is nominated for and wins multiple oscars later on in life (60+).

Yes they rarely give a third. Daniel Day-Lewis got a third one pretty quickly but I think had there been another viable candidate the year he won for Lincoln they would have gone with that person. He was just so far ahead of all of them that they had to give it to him.

Darling they waited until she had a leading role to give her a second win. The Academy prefers its three timers to either have 3 in a single category or 2 leads and 1 supporting. So she won’t win supporting again.

Nicholson, Streep, Bergman: 2 Lead, 1 Supporting. Blanchett and Washington are waiting their turn and he’ll likely do it before her.
