There are too many contenders for Best Actor this year. Steve Carell and Mark Ruffalo are big threats for their own categories. But can Channing Tatum get in along with Carell in the same category? (Even we don’t know if he will go lead or supporting)September 19, 2014 at 7:58 am #161952
with Carrell in the same category? no.September 19, 2014 at 8:34 am #161953
Carrell should stay in Lead. Tatum has a good proformance in this movie but, up untill now he has known to be wooden. His best
chance is to go supporting. Ruffalo has a smaller role so he is supporting. Leave the placement of the actors alone, they are in the right place.September 19, 2014 at 9:11 am #161954
Up against Steve Carell, not a chance.

Best Actor is too crowded this year for Tatum and Carell. Supporting Actor is much more open, so that’s where he stands a better chance. I’m not sure he can even get in there, but I still need to see the movie.

Really, why do you open a new thread for this? Don’t we have a BEST ACTOR thread, a FOXCATCHER thread?
Really, keep OVERCROWDING this forum!September 19, 2014 at 10:38 am #161957

He’s not the one with the best odds. Maybe he is at the GD prediction center. But that’s also funny as no one is really updating the first predictions and he had the biggest chance the first few weeks.September 19, 2014 at 11:40 am #161960
You all are bat shit crazy if you don’t think Steve Carrell is a lockSeptember 19, 2014 at 11:46 am #161961
I think it’s BS that Steve Carell is even in leading actor. From everything we’ve read he’s got much less screentime and that it’s Tatum’s film. So why is Carell in lead?its not like he’s some huge George Clooney Daniel Day Lewis esque movie star that is too big for supporting. Theyre acting like its lead actor or bust with him. Hes not an oscar veteran. Why commit category fraud and screw channing out of a nom? Especially if carrell is all but guaranteed to win in supp? Isnt a win what youre goin for here? Why does it matter if its a supporting win?
Im sure this has been discussed like a bunch but i dont come here often.September 19, 2014 at 11:53 am #161962

Why? The category is strong and there are many contenders for the five spots. He has competition in his own movie (I heard better words on Tatum, honestly) and he’s not a respected Oscar-veteran. Yeah. I get it. You all liked him in “The Office”, but it’s the Oscars…He’s not a lock. If America’s fav Tom Hanks was snubbed last year in a strong field, it can happen to Carell as well who’s not even a huge movie star.
These are just facts. No one is safe in the category, but Carell is far from being the safest.September 19, 2014 at 11:56 am #161963
