Since Bale has won 3 major industry awards GG,CC his win will be an upset but not a huge shock as it will be for Viggo,Cooper,Dafoe.I have seen many people despising thought of Rami winning which is rightful because even in my opinion he’s best 4th in this 5 men lead.Cooper,Viggo,Dafoe have all performed better than him according to me and for most of people Rami’s best at 5 if we talk merit but Can Rami loose Oscar to one of Viggo,Cooper,Dafoe. Can we see another “Adrien Brody” this year. Please discuss Why and Why not?

No, I don’t think so. There’s too much passion for that movie, and Rami is the place to award it (as bad as that may sound considering the circumstances)
Emmys 2019 FYC: Lena Headey ("Game of Thrones"), Cicely Tyson ("HTGAWM"), Viola Davis ("HTGAWM"), Richard Madden ("Bodyguard"), "Bodyguard," "The Haunting of Hill House" & "Escape at Dannemora" in all categoriesFebruary 11, 2019 at 12:31 am #1202771615
Stop rooting for Rami to lose. He is winning 100%, 1/1 chance, the Oscar is already mail sent to his house.February 11, 2019 at 12:33 am #1202771618
No. Rami Malek will win.
Adrien Brody was up against 4 previous winners (3 of them fairly recent ones at that). Daniel Day-Lewis has the disadvantage that whilst Gangs of New York managed a slew of Oscar nomination there really wasn’t much love for the film itself and at the that point of time clearly no great desire to give him a second Oscar.
A Star is Born has really fizzled so a Cooper win seems remote. Dafoe only has his performance going for him in a film few have or even want to see. Viggo will have settle for a nomination and Bale already has an Oscar and plays a real life person loathed by most people in a film that has divided audiences and critics.
Despite the tepid reviews for Bohemian Rhapsody the film is clearly much loved by audiences and liked enough by Academy members so get 5 nominations. Rami has been on roll and its going to conclude with an Oscar win for him.February 11, 2019 at 12:34 am #1202771619
I pray for this to happen (and will continue to) but . . .February 11, 2019 at 12:35 am #1202771622
Can someone pull an Adrien Brody? Technically speaking, of course someone can – that’s why it’s called pulling an Adrien Brody. Is it likely to happen? Of course not – that’s why it’s called pulling an Adrien Brody.
And I agree that a Bale win would not be an Adrien Brody situation. There have been stronger frontrunners than Rami Malek and Christian Bale winning over him would be a Mark Rylance level upset at best.February 11, 2019 at 12:58 am #1202771639
I feel like Rami has already pulled an Adrian Brody if that makes sense .
The film was not well liked by critics at all and I would also add that while it was very widely seen , I’m not sure if it was really that loved by audiences either, on top of that you add the Singer controversies and I’m really surprised to see Rami sweeping through awards season the way he has!

In retrospect it is hard to believe that Brody beat Day-Lewis (but then The Pianist got director too despite the controversy and beating Scorsese who hadn’t won an Oscar at that point.)February 11, 2019 at 2:08 am #1202771703
Cooper,Viggo,Dafoe haven’t won any major industry award for lead actor this season very much like Adrien Brody in 2002.Bale has won 3 major industry lead actor awards in shape of 2CC and a GG.So only these three Dafoe,Cooper,Viggo if one of them wins can pull a Adrien Brody. If Bale wins then that will be not a huge shock coz he was always #1 in many critics, experts predictions and had 3 major lead actor awards.Seeing that Rami is 4th Best based on merit in this category,I really want to see an “Adrien Brody” this year.February 11, 2019 at 4:10 am #1202771784

Is there a possibility that The Pianist gained the most from the Variety hit pieces(penned by ×2 Oscar winner William Goldman) against Scorsese and Gangs of New York ?

When Adrien Brody won, no one had won the lethal combo of Globe and SAG. Globes went to Jack Nicholson and Richard Gere (who was not nominated at the Oscars), and Daniel Day-Lewis won SAG and BAFTA, which would’ve sailed him to the Oscar if he hadn’t won before and Gangs of New York was better-liked. There are no similarities this year to the Brody race.February 11, 2019 at 4:23 am #1202771797
Jack Nicholson campaigned on behalf of his friend Roman Polanski. So the Brody win wasn’t a default for voters saying the other nominees are previous winners therefore we’ll go with the new guy. They rarely go young in the category and Brody is the youngest winner ever in Best Actor at 29.February 11, 2019 at 4:38 am #1202771803
Guys, Rami Malek will win Best Actor. End of…..
