I do think he could win for Killers of the Flower Moon if he has a good enough part. But I don’t think there’s a desperation to give him a third.

Honestly if Renée Zellweger can win due to a comeback narrative then surely Robert De Niro can win a 3rd too.

Yes he made some bad films in the 2000’s some of the 2020’s but he was still good in Silver Linings Playbook and gave a great performance last year in The Irishman. If he continues making quality films like this and delivers like he can then there’s no doubt that he can eventually win a 3rd at some point.

I think there should be more of an urgency to award Al Pacino with his second statuette. Hopefully King Lear is being filmed on enough of a scale to grab mass attention.

Based on his performance in The Irishman, he still has it in him to give a performance worthy of a win. That said, there doesn’t seem to be an urgency to give him a third.

And I also think he should’ve won for Taxi driver.

I don’t think there’s ever really an urgency to give a performer a third Oscar in most cases. Meryl only had that narrative because she gets nominated pretty much every year but most other actors never seemingly get the same push. The only time someone can possibly win a third is by just being undeniable it seems, in recent times only Denzel has come close for Fences so if Robert De Niro gives a performance that is undeniable and people cannot overlook then he could well win a third.
