It’s possible that they could hold this festival by the end of June, but I think it’s probably better to delay furthur or cancel altogether. At this point we really shouldn’t underestimate COVID-19.

Can they do a version of this online or have people enter their films to have screeners sent or something among those lines? This is just really depressing.

There are so many things we don’t know, for instance how the virus will react to warmer temperatures. Here (in Italy, where the bad situation is happening “in advance” compared to other European countries) things don’t look to get better anytime soon. Therefore every summer event in Europe is up in the air, I guess.

It has been reported (see https://www.technologyreview.com/s/615381/coronavirus-spread-could-slow-with-warmer-weather/) that the most recent analysis suggests warmer weather does reduce the transmission of the virus. So hopefully this helps it subside in the coming months.
