Didn’t see a thread on this, so I thought I’d make one. The Cannes lineup will be announced this Thursday, probably at 11:00 AM Paris time as that’s what it was last year, and the actual festival will take place from May 17th to May 28th.
What films are you expecting to see make the lineup and what films are you hoping to see? Feel free to drop predictions here for the lineup and even the eventual winners.

Schanelec making it in competiton would be incredible and so would be Lynch surprising with a new film as it’s rumored.

ReplyCopy URLApril 10, 2022 at 7:34 pm #1204911866The headline that comes to me is that Claire Denis x Margaret Qualley collaboration is rushed for the release at Cannes. I hope it will still be a great film. Margaret Qualley will get Cannes best actress, perhaps?

New poster for Hirokazu Kore-ada’s Broker. The timing of this poster’s release could imply that the film is going to Cannes, where Kore-ada previously won the Jury Prize for Like Father, Like Son and the Palme d’Or for Shoplifters (the latter of which was eventually nominated for Best International Feature). Something to look out for.

Decision to Leave and Crimes of the Feature are the two I’m “expecting” to see here. Wouldn’t surprise me if Armageddon Time shows up here considering how supportive Cannes have been in the past of Gray but it also don’t feel like very “bold” choices.

I believe the Denis and Hausner are not ready yet, no?

Indiewire tricked me. I didn’t notice it’s not even finished shooting yet!
