I’m with the majority here. Blanchett is indeed the superior actress. I feel like Cate Blanchett more easily becomes her character and creates an actual character; whereas Kate Winslet always feels like Kate Winslet in a period costume trying to give a decent performance.July 19, 2020 at 12:49 am #1203591706This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.July 19, 2020 at 4:14 am #1203591773
Definitely Blanchett, who is my favorite actress working today.
I do feel Winslet is also great, but she doesn’t always quite get there.

I think the dispute here is more about personal taste. Both are great actresses. I prefer Winslet. I can imagine, for example, Winslet playing Blanchett’s role in Carol, but I can’t imagine Blanchett in Eternal Sunshine as Clementine Kruczinsk.
About Kidman I think it’s out of the question. Nicole is great and worthy of a lot of respect. But I think she will even act as a director in the future. It was not always that I was impressed by any of his ACTIONS. She’s always fine, of course. But I have the impression that there is always someone better than her in her films or series. Big Litte Lies is Laura Dern’s vehicle for me. In Bombshel the highlights are Charlize Theron and margo Robbie, not Kidman.July 19, 2020 at 3:15 pm #1203592403
I prefer Kate Winslet. She always makes me feel something, even in small or inconsequential roles. Remember her performance in The Holiday? I love the way she runs through the L.A mansion and squeals with excitement and glee. Then she delivers that hugely emotional monologue about unrequited love to Jack Black’s character. Or her supporting role in Finding Neverland, where she watches the play at the end and it finally dawns on her that she’s not going to watch her kids grow old. Her eyes are mesmerizing in that final shot.
Of course Cate Blanchett is brilliant, but she just always leaves me feeling a bit cold. With the exception of Blue Jasmine, there isn’t a performance of hers where I’ve been blown away.
P.S I think that Toni Collette is the greatest actress working today. Her name never seems to appear in these conversations, I’ve noticed.July 19, 2020 at 5:29 pm #1203592484
Definitely Blanchett but Winslegend holds a special place in my heart than no other actress today occupies.July 19, 2020 at 10:46 pm #1203592704

I don’t want to derail the thread, but have you watched season 1 recently? After season 2, I revisited season 1 and realized I had completely forgotten how fantastic Kidman is. Were it possible to have adapted Big Little Lies into a movie as opposed to a miniseries, I think Kidman would’ve won another Oscar for Celeste.
Here’s Cate showing her incredible vocal ability. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_I0LnQxRAkJuly 20, 2020 at 7:15 pm #1203593738
Yes. I watched. Do not misunderstand me. Maybe it’s just personal preference. Kidman, Winslet and Blanchett. The three are great actresses! On the other hand, while some people like you like to talk about actresses in a respectful and wealthy way, other people don’t do that. It is enough to note that some of Blanchett’s fans (and she is not to blame for that) when they try to express their preferences always diminish or make fun of other actresses. This is very unpleasant. After all, talent is talent. Live the variety!July 20, 2020 at 8:00 pm #1203593795
Winslet would of been considered more if she hadn’t slowed down output of films in last decade. Once she got that Oscar , she basically said peace out n projects she made were overall meh with few exceptions. While Blanchett constantly works. N alternates n finds interesting projects no matter the genreAugust 1, 2020 at 9:53 am #1203620610
kate winslet brilliant actresses!! I do not like blanchett.August 1, 2020 at 4:25 pm #1203621195
凯温Kate’s work is stronger, cate s acting is betterAugust 1, 2020 at 4:31 pm #1203621204
Blanchett by 10 miles.
Winslet is pretty average.August 2, 2020 at 1:33 pm #1203622428
I think its been said before, but
Cate Blanchett = Meryl Streep
Kate Winslet = Jessica Lange.
Equally great, but personally I have a more emotional connection to Kate Winslet’s warm acting.August 2, 2020 at 1:36 pm #1203622436
I feel Blanchett is clearly and obviously the superior actor.
Winslet might have the better filmography though with both Titanic and Eternal Sunshine under her belt. She still can’t hold a candle to Blanchett as an actress. They aren’t even in the same league.
It would be more appropriate to have Blanchett vs Kidman.
Both Winslet and Blanchett are better than Kidman.
Also as someone said before, I can see Winslet doing a lot of Blanchett’s roles and being amazing, but I can’t imagine Blanchett being Rose and rooting for her character as much. Kate Winslet ALWAYS finds a way for us to root for her. Its a gift.
