Chris Evans is preparing to play Gene Kelly in an upcoming film.

Doesn’t seem like a typical biopic based on the article from Variety but still an interesting premise.

I don’t know what to think about this, I like Chris and I’m happy he’s doing more high profile projects after Marvel, but as much as I like him, he’s not a strong actor, he’s only competent. Let’s see where this goes.

Not gonna lie, but Sebastian Stan reminds me a little bit of Kelly.

Very interesting. It sounds a bit like Jojo Rabbit, but happy. Chris Evans is a passable choice, but I think Jean Dujardin would’ve be ideal, if he could quell his French accent. He looks almost identical to Kelly, and he has the dancing skills to boot…

He’s gonna need some butt padding.

It’s curious to me how I wholly expected Evans to flop post-MCU, but he keeps getting interesting projects. And to be clear, I loved him as Rogers, but expected natural career gravity to take over as he really gained attention for one specific franchise role.

Apparently Chris Evans has been tap dancing since he was a kid and is generally a good dancer so the casting of this isn’t as unlikely as it seems.

It makes sense, Evans strength is his dancing background,

The premise sounds a lot more intriguing than your conventional biopic. Which might work in its favor. Chris Evans wouldn’t have been my immediate choice for Kelly but he could surprise.

Dujardin does have that old Hollywood vibe, but he is a bit old for the role if this takes place in the 1950s.

Okay I know this is going to be unpopular, but I don’t care.

I’m not a Chris Evans fan. I’m disappointed by this. I love Gene Kelly. He is still one of my top favorite actors of all time. Chris looks nothing similar to Gene. So what if he can dance. I have issues of a movie being made about Gene Kelly. Frankly it’s about time he gets acknowledgement again. But I’m bummed that he might be brought to the screen by someone who in my opinion isn’t very good.

It makes sense, Evans strength is his dancing background,

Someone described him as a theatre kid who fell into a bucket of protein powder.

Apparently on the Marvel sets he was always annoying people by bursting into show tunes and tap dancing.
