Looks like Luca and Aciman met on March 6th and the work has begun . Timothee and Armie are both committed .Filming will take place on the East Coast of the USA and most likely back in Italy. It will get into HIV issues and take place in the early 90s  Yessss 🙂

Why would a relatively light movie with barely any tension be followed up with a story centered around the AIDS pandemic? And wasn’t not being another maudlin, tragic and/or disease-riddled queer flick a big part of its appeal for fans and one of its biggest selling points?

I really don’t think a sequel is necessary, but it’ll probably be pretty good anyways.

    Will Chalamet get nominated again?

I rarely agree with you but you’re so spot on! I hope Elio doesn’t end up HIV-positive. That would be so fucking depressing and predictable.

I sometimes agree with you Sasha. I just don’t let you know.

There is no mention of HIV in the book it is all about Elio and Oliver. Not sure where Luca is taking the HIV story. It takes place in the early 90s  It may be a part of the movie but hopefully not a major part .

I loved the movie, but not liking the idea of a sequel. There really isn’t any need for it.

I pray this doesn’t actually happen. The movie is perfect as it is.

Just the thought of that is extremely depressing. God I hope that does not happen

Haha…I don’t think it’s going to be centered around the AIDS panemic, but rather take place during that time period.

I hope it doesnt end up like the hobbit trilogy. I mean imagine doing LOTR and following it up with the Hobbit.

This sequel has a lot of potential and for the first time ever I actually trust Luca Guadagnino. Not objecting to anything.
