All the actors from American Hustle. I don’t mind a scene chewing, but damn the acting was so over the top and cartoony. Jeez

If you ask me, she should have been nominated for Young Frankenstein instead and won for that. She is so freaking hilarious in that movie.

I’m on board with a nomination for that. Just not Blazing Saddles, in which she basically did nothing except a fake accent and, like someone said, a Marlene Dietrich impression.

    Best Actress-

All of Elizabeth Taylor’s nominations except for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?(Never considered her a great actress)

I really think you haven’t watched Cat On a Hot Tin Roof or Suddenly Last Summer (stunning performances). I do agree that Butterfield8 was undeserving but it made sense as Taylor had just had a near death experience and the Academy wanted to honour her for snubbing her previously. She was one of the BIGGEST names as well.

    Salma Hayek- Frida

Rooney Mara- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

It’s ridiculous that you’re listing them under “senseless”. (Personal Opinion is respected But general consensus calls it deserving.)

    Kate Winslet- Titanic, Little Children

    Renée Zellweger- Bridget Jones’s Diary

    Nicole Kidman- Moulin Rouge!

As Piper Halliwell pointed out, Zellwegger,Kidman and Winslet in Titanic are ICONIC so make sense.
Kate Winslet in Little Children is a bit divisive (mainly because her screen time is less than 35%) but she got nominations everywhere-GG,CC,SAG, BAFTA,NY critics,LA critics etc. Makes sense.

    Jennifer Lawrence- Joy

I do agree with you here. It’s a Tired Lazy nom. It is an insult to the performances of Cate Blanchett,Brie Larson,Charlotte Sampling,Saoirse Ronan, Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl),Rooney Mara,Juliette Binoche (The Clouds of Sils Maria),Kate Winslet (The Dressmaker) and even Sarah Silverman.

Johnny Depp did not need to be nominated for an uninspired peformance in Finding Neverland, especially when you consider that Paul Giamatti got robbed of a nomination for his brilliant performance in Sideways.

Laura Dern in Marriage Story – bland, boring, seen it before – and she somehow won ): Ridiculous! One of the worst wins ever!

I will not agree with the other posters that Kahn was undeserving for BLAZING SADDLES, but I will agree with you her nomination should have been for YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. And I’ll second she should have won for it. Or Cloris Leachman. Also I would even nominated Teri Garr. I would also nominate 3 of the male cast for supporting actor for Boyle, Feldman & Mars.

Idk how controversial this is, but I saw Coming Home recently and didn’t think Jane Fonda did anything special. She was just OK. Especially in comparison to Jill Clayburgh in An Unmarried Woman, who gave the best performance of that year easy (from what I’ve seen anyway). I don’t think Fonda deserved a nomination

reading the responses on this forum hurts. There have been very, very few performances to be nominated for an Oscar that were “completely undeserving.” instasave

Streep in Post was nomination-worthy, Sam Rockwell in Vice was filler-nomination-worthy, DOR movie performances were all win-worthy or nomination-worthy. vidmate
