I may be in the minority, but I personally thought that JLaw was not very good in Silver Linings and didn’t even deserve to be nominated let alone win, and she’s even worse in American Hustle. And the fact that she actually came close to winning over Lupita for that movie is actually fucking disgusting to me. She’s one of those people who does not deserve to be an Oscar winner. But I also don’t like David O Russell in general. Obviously not as a person, but I don’t think he’s a very good filmmaker either. I’m glad Canterbury Glass is officially delayed so that I don’t have to deal with this fucker for another year

I couldn’t agree with you more. In addition to the two movies you mentioned, her nomination for “JOY” is very disappointing!

Emmanuelle Riva should have won for “AMOUR”. It still pisses me off that this bad movie director grimaced when Riva won the BAFTA. https://youtu.be/GuWTAUCfzG0?t=74

I’m loling at that Gupta person copying my stuff. And I totally disagree with everybody on the DOR-directed performances being bad but I guess they’re polarizing???

Anyway, came to say that I just watched Terms of Endearment and… John Lithgow. He literally did nothing. It wasn’t *bad*, but it wasn’t good either. It was just fine, plain, mediocre. He didn’t have any material. It was barely a role. I’m convinced he was only nominated because of his nomination the previous year.

Darling, here’s few performances that doesn’t even deserves to be considered for an Oscar nom:

    – Joanna Woodward, Summer Wishes Winter Dreams (a stiff and emotionally blank performance in an inconsistent melodrama)
    – Robert Loggia in Jagged Edge (a background character in few scenes that only got nominated for name recognition only)
    – Holly Hunter, The Firm (pure name-check, barely got anything to do)
    – Sally Field, Places In The Heart (underwhelming performance in an oscar bait)
-every nominated and winning performances in DavidOrusel films (Loud, distracting, obnoxious, and over the top)
-every nominated performances in Vice (read above)
    – Being The Ricardos’ nominated performances (these are the furthest thing from being one of the best of the year, the performances range from fine (Kidman), forgettable (Simmons), and terrible (Bardem).
    – Melanie Griffith, Working Girl (stiff and annoying)
    – Alan Arkin, Argo (glorified cameo, got almost nothing to do than saying that ‘ArGOfuckYourself’ line)
    – Rami Malek, Bohemian Rhapsody (Razzie)
    – Will Smith, King Richard (spending the whole movie sleepwalking and being an annoying human being)
    – Gary Oldman, Darkest Hour and Jessica Chastain, The Eyelashes of Tammy Faye (maximum oscar bait that somehow still works to bait the dumb voters in this century)

I think she got in due to the strength of her performance in The Piano that same year.

In the best actress category :

    – Wallis or Lawrence in 2013 : I have nothing against them, but Marion Cotillard would have been a much more deserving nominated for Rust and Bones that year… And I’m not particularly a fan of her… I guess Emmanuelle Riva (rightly nominated for Amour the same year) was enough for the french touch 😊

Love her but Laura Dern in Wild.

Maybe I just was expecting more from the performance because I knew it was nominated but I spent a lot of the movie waiting for her to do anything.
