Jamie Lee Curtis deserved her Oscar. Just because she gave a comedic performance doesn’t mean she didn’t give one of the best supporting performances of the year.

March 29, 2023 at 1:45 am #1205367736Laura Dern in Marriage Story. I really liked her performance in that film. I also feel like a lot of the hate it receives is a result of it becoming popular to hate on, meaning the comments against it become very repetitively similar.

I don’t know what people thought,I like Jessica’s performance.
I think she is a so special and talented actress.

That year was difficult. I remember going between Rampling, Blanchett and Ronan, but Larson was undeniable entire season. I still feel bad that Maggie Smith wasn’t nominated for “Lady in the Van”…
I don’t think the win per se is controversial, but between “Carol” ageing quite nicely and Larson doing MCU movies in a rather dry, uninspiring way, people sort of think that Oscar aged badly. I think she was deserving.

I agree. It’s one of those scenarios where people mainly scoff at the win because of how the winner’s career has gone since. With that being said, awards are given for the best of the year, not the work/careers that will last a lifetime. Voters have no control/predictions for how things will turn out for someone in the future beyond just winning an award.

It’s brainless to think she had the best performance from the 4
That entire movie (including her performance only won for a total of 9 awards) during the whole awards season , the industry just wanted her to win despite she was average at best and her white savior movie was dreadful.

That’s not true tho. The movie had 39 nomination and 9 wins, all by Sandra.

Based on these clips, Dame Helen Mirren should have won. But Sandra Bullock deserved it for Gravity
